Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

Hey DJ, Heeeeey!

November 14th, 2011 @ 9:13 am by Miss Fox

No, not you DJ Tanner.

Hey DJ, Heeeeey! : wedding havre de grace music Dj Tanner

Image via Buddy TV

I’m kind of in shock that I haven’t mentioned anything specific about our DJ Frank yet. After the venue, he was the first vendor we booked! (What can I say, we like music.) It’s actually kind of awesome because our new buddy Frank apparently works with our venue quite often, so he already knows the space, layout, and general flow of things on the big day. He came highly recommended by our DOC, and the fact that someone else was trying to book him for their wedding on the same day as ours almost two years in advance? Yea, I’d say he’s good at what he does. We’d hit that.

Mr. Foxy and I first met with Frank in July of 2010 and had an instant connection.

Foxy was sold because Frank had a ton of tattoos (apparently that makes them soul brothers or something) and we were both stoked at his laid back, open attitude. As previously mentioned, he’s totally cool with us having a general play and do-not-play list, as well as playing some “offbeat” music, granted he has the tracks or we provide them.

So now I present to you: the point of this post.

Foxy and I have talked more about the music to be played at the reception and already have a handful of random songs to be dispersed within all the top 40 mumbo jumbo that I’m a total hussy for.

Ready for it?

1. Olé - Bouncing Souls

Even though I’ve listened to and loved this song since high school, Foxy insists that “you just don’t get it” and “you didn’t get ready to go out drinking with your boys in college to this song like I did.” Um, no, because I was straightedge and awesome. Either way, I can’t wait to see what him and “his boys” do when this song pops on randomly during the reception!

2. Rock Show - Blink182

This one is more mainstream and less random, but definitely not a common reception dance song (I think?). Anyway, we both love it and I’m pretty sure all our friends will be gettin’ jiggy with it.

3. My Standard Break From Life - Alkaline Trio

This one is definitely all Foxy. He big puffy heart loves Alkaline Trio - I’d say I more normal-sized 2-d heart love them.

4. Back in Your Head - Tegan and Sara

This was one of the first songs I knew and loved by T&S, and these two ladies comprise “our” band. Sure, their songs are all depressing as heck, but they’re just so catchy.

5. Bad Touch - Bloodhound Gang

Please don’t even ask. I’m obsessed with this song. Foxy knows ALL the words and it’s (sadly) my goal by the time the wedding comes around to know them all too (first verse down!). Please don’t tell me it’s “inappropriate”.. it’s hysterical and the people who don’t know the song won’t even realize what they’re saying in it. I think we’ll be good. Or we can have Frank edit some things out.

6. Festival Song - Good Charlotte

I had to put at least one GC song on the list. I was kind of obsessed with them in high school and may have wanted to marry Benji. By may, I mean I totally did.

Thus ends what will inevitably become “Part 1″ of random music to be played at the reception. I would strongly suggest for you to expect more of our terrible superb music selections in future posts.

Are you having any “offbeat” music played at your wedding?

You may possibly be my favorite bride right now because of this post alone (and your obsession with Dashboard.)

I love all these song choices!

Love Good Charlotte! I’m actually from the same town they are in Southern Maryland! My favorite is Seasons, though it’s not as appropriate for a weddding

So, I am reading your blog post and was like whoa my DJ’s name is Frank too. Then I was like I wonder if it could be the same guy. So, I click on his name and bam we have the same DJ. We loved everything about his laid back style too plus he does not have one bad review! I can’t wait to have the dance floor packed!

I most certainly would dance my behind off at your wedding. I can’t even judge you for the Bloodhound gang song seeing as I just KNOW everyone will probably be dancing to this at ours. Way to bring it back 90’s style! Love it :)

@Amy: Looove me some Dashboard. Forever. Thanks!
@bdemps11: Agreed, wonderful song but mayyybe not so wedding worthy. They’re original CD was by far the best.. Waldor Worldwide what?!
@Ellen: Too funny! We just loved him. I actually haven’t read reviews on him yet (just trusted our DOC a lot) but that’s encouraging to know!
@MsBrooklynA: Hooray! Fellow 90’s amazeballs music fan! ;)

Sounds like you guys worked out all the wedding music together. Did you decide on a first dance song? I have to be the thumbs down to the “Bad Touch”. My mom was sexually abused as a child by a family member and any refernce to violence and sex turns my stomach. But that’s just me! I’m sure your guests will love dancing doggie style!!

I totes thought the Bloodhound Gang song was called “Discovery Channel.” Hmm, failsauce. And my personal vote for our wedding theme song is “Take Me Home Tonight” by Eddie Money.

Haha the Ole song is hilarious. I just listened to it while I finished making dinner. Never heard it before, but I kinda like it now! And uh I have not heard Bloodhound Gang in FOREVER haha. Thanks for getting it stuck in my heard for the rest of the night ;)

Lol, I remember playing the Ole song 50 times a day in high school. Sadly, the one and only time I saw the Bouncing Souls live they kind of sucked. The Bloodhound Gang is gonna have to make my late-late night playlist!

We’re Phish fans. Huge Phish fans. Most of our friends are, but I have a feeling a few of our family members will be a little confused as to why people are fired up for our entrance song or why people get emotional over a first dance song called “Waste.” :)
