Unveiling My Something Borrowed

November 15th, 2011 @ 2:21 pm by Miss Dalmatian

I have already shared a couple of photos of how drop dead stunning my sister, MOH A, looked on her wedding day last May. But in order to share another detail of my wedding day look, I am going to turn to a few more photos of hers.

Can you figure out what these 3 pictures have in common? If not, the title of this post can serve as a clue. That’s right! Her beautiful veil.

My plan right now is to borrow MOH A’s veil to wear on my wedding day. It is a simple, tulle, finger-tip veil that we are hoping will complement my dress as beautifully as it did hers. Also, I love the idea of having something that represents my sisters with me on my wedding day (in addition, of course, to having them standing there beside me!). There is also the lovely fact that generous MOH A would not be charging me to borrow the veil, thus helping to ease the blow of my slightly over-budget dress purchase (oops!).

When I tried on my dress in the store, we picked the most similar veil we could find to see how it looked. It is pretty hard to see in this picture, so use your imagination a bit!

Mama Dalmatian, our consultant, and I all agreed that it worked with the dress, but I would love to get some opinions from the hive! Do you love the look, sentiment, and price (free) of MOH’s veil? Or do you think that a different type of veil would work better because of either looks or functionality (I am a teensy bit concerned about having a veil that is on the longer side when it may be windy outside)?

So, whattaya think?

If you think some other type of veil would work better, what kind are you envisioning?

You mentioned being worried about it being windy outside and that the longer veil might cause issues. I for one love, love, love the pictures of brides in longer veils where the wind catches it slightly. I think those pictures are just gorgeous and also help to capture the essence of the day. I mean what other day will you be able to wear something so beautiful and sentimental like your sister’s veil! I say go for it! Btw your dress is gorgeous!

I’m not doing a veil. I don’t want it blowing around during my outside ceremony. Your’s looks amazing though!!!

Using your sister’s veil will be so special and I agree with Mrs. Red Soxs that it will be beautiful if it catches a little wind.
