The South has definitely earned a special place in my heart (alongside my Virginia born and bred fiance, of course!). We are planning a traditional Christian ceremony at my alma mater in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, followed by a rocking reception filled with Southern cooking and vintage/shabby chic details. When we’re not wedding planning, we enjoy spending time with our three dogs, going for runs together, watching plenty of football (or baseball depending on the season), and sampling new wine.

Aqua Blue to the Rescue!

November 16th, 2011 @ 10:35 am by Miss Hawk

Remember my initial color inspiration and how I eventually chucked it to start anew? Well, y’all, I’m ready to share a very important update! I’ve finally found the inspiration I was looking for! I knew that I was all about yellow, but for some reason I was fighting my girly-girl nature. I must admit that it took a lot of long hours in front of the computer screen, but with my (non-DIY’ed) blue Mason jars in hand, I knew I was onto something. The combination was fresh and spring-y, perfect for our May wedding. Aqua blue and yellow it was! (Phew, that was easy! Who would have known those little jars would have been so instrumental in my decision?) But just to prevent any future waffling and wavering on my part, I decided to throw in some green and rose pink accents. (See, I couldn’t fight the pink!)

I don’t want anything that looks too baby/nursery, so I’m going to make sure to keep the yellow and aqua vibrant. (But I do love how the other colors add visual interest.) Best of all, the color combination fits my vision of “Southern vintage/shabby chic,” which I must admit was partially inspired by our menu.

How did you come to your final color decision? Were there other parts of the planning that helped you decide?

I actually had a davids bridal dress that was pool and oasis, and I fell in love with it. So that is what I was set on.

Well June weddings those colors are awful dark. I went into AA and they had a sunshine color, so I fell in love with that and then they got these new colors in, and they got one in Canary. OH GOSH! I fell in love with it!

I don’t think that your colors looks to nursery/baby like. I love them!

I knew i wanted peacock feathers, and when i originally thought it would be teal and silver, I ended up allowing my color palette to be anything peacock color related. My new colors are teal, aqua, mint, blue, gold, and lime. It’s an interesting combination, but it really helped me to have very eye appealing centerpieces. I’ll be sure to post pictures later…one month from today i will be married!

Super great combo! But I’m possibly biased because I’m an aqua blue/turquoise hussy.. we’re doing that color with a creamsicle orange with hints of pink. I just love how they all flow together!

I would never encourage anyone to fight the pink. Let the pink lay where it falls. I don’t think it ever hurt anyone. Unless I asked my FI to wear pink, that would really hurt him. Although Pink isn’t an “official” part of our scheme, it is in my mind an official part of the wedding. So glad you still got your yellow!
