People Want What They Can’t Have…

November 18th, 2011 @ 12:34 pm by Miss Elk

And that is especially true when it comes to hair! Girls with curly hair only wish they could straighten it out, and girls with straight hair want beautiful ringlets. For me, all I have ever wanted is thick locks. Through the years, I’ve noticed a definite thinning of my hair. Here you can see my dinky pony tail (and yes I am petting an elephant!!).

The problem is, for my wedding day I have dreams of hair like this:

So how exactly do I expect to get that look without breaking the bank? My secret is Jessica Simpson’s Hairdo ponytail:

It is this crazy contraption of fake hair that wraps around your own ponytail, elongating it and making it extra thick and delicious. And the best part? It only costs $40 and it matches my hair PERFECTLY. When it’s straight, it looks a little crazy, but I decided to take a risk and curl it for my cousin’s wedding. And the results:

So when I finally went to buy my dress, I brought along Jessica’s hair secret (OK, I’m sure she doesn’t use it herself…) and tried it on to get the full effect.

Now I just wonder what my guests will think the morning after my wedding when my hair miraculously shortens almost a foot! I guess I won’t need a PWC!

Did you always want what you didn’t have with regard to hair? Are you getting your wish for your wedding day?

OMG! thanks for the tip! I just cut my hair to an above-the-shoulders bob and I was worried I wouldn’t have a way to make it look fancy for formal occasions. I’m so going to check that out!

Yes, I dream of straight thinner hair becuase this mop sucks big time in the heat. But I do know how lucky I am to have long thick locks that hold a curl with little hair spray when it comes to my wedding do. On that day I will be thankful. Ask me again next July and I’ll propbably threaten to take clippers to it.

I love having long, straight hair, but it would be nice if it would hold curl and fancy styles.

I’m so impressed by how real that looks.. I wonder if she makes it in the right shade of red?! I think it adds to your bridal look spectacularly!

That looks awesome! I would totally do the same thing, but I have red hair that’s hard to match. You’re hair’s going to look fabulous!

I am so in the same boat! I have really thin hair, which is nice because I can blow-dry and straighten it super fast, but it is not the best for formal looks. I think I am going to get temporary extensions (haven’t had my trial yet but my hair girl suggested them). I hope they look as good as your magic pony tail!

I am so impressed with the look of your faux pony! I’ve seen ads for Jessica Simpson’s hair line before and wondered how it well it worked. You look great!

I’ve been using Herbal Essence body envy and it actually does make a little difference and doesn’t break the bank!

I wish I could afford extensions for my wedding. I love the long curled layered locks!

I recently bought some fake hair because a friend at work uses some in her hairdos from time to time. Mine doesn’t match quite as well as yours, but I’d totally do it for a wedding do! My piece didn’t really work for our wedding, but I totally support the idea of using fake hairs! I love how much volume and length they can add. You look great with it!
