Mrs. Mink's Picture
Mrs. Mink, Charlottesville, Virginia Age and Occupation: 34, College Administrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Craft Beer Consultant Engagement Date: November 26, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards About Me: I left a pre-war brownstone in Boston six years ago to live in a funky, Southern city where Thomas Jefferson, Dave Matthews, and urban chicken keepers enjoy equal social standing. I still love my Patriots and Red Sox, but have fallen in love with Virginia. I work in education and specialize in integrating technology into my work to improve the student experience. I’m a diehard blogger, animal lover, jamband follower, and DIYer. I paint to relax and have transferred by energy from home projects to wedding projects in recent months. When Mr. Mink and I started talking about marriage, we knew our wedding would be outdoors, that my golden retriever would be part of the day, and that the music would be fantastic. We’ve taken a few risks during our planning process and we’ve been enjoying the process immensely!
About Mrs. Mink

I Am Miss Mink

November 21st, 2011 @ 11:30 am by Mrs. Mink

Hello to all of you beautiful bees! I’m thrilled to be writing this post. My name is Miss Mink and I’m so excited to have you along for my wedding-planning adventure.

I live in Charlottesville, a fabulous college town in Virgina. A native of New Jersey who went to school in Providence and Boston, I’ve moved around a bit, but always lived in the Northeast prior to the move here. While I’ll always be a Jersey girl and I’ll always love my Red Sox and Patriots, I have found my home in Virginia. I work in academia and could be considered an early adopter of social media, so I’m very comfortable with joining this fabulous group of bloggers.

Mr. Mink and I met at the opening of Charlottesville Pavilion, and outdoor concert venue, in 2005. We are serious music lovers and will travel great distances and endure some pretty interesting conditions to see a great concert. Mr. Mink is a radio host and a craft-beer consultant, which most people agree sound like the coolest jobs in the world. He’s been hearing about “The ‘Bee” for a year now, so he’s pretty excited to be part of this, too! He has already given my golden retriever his new name, Junior Mink.

We are planning a vineyard wedding with a mix of classic and vintage details with a little quirk thrown in. I was raised conservatively, so I appreciate tradition and proper etiquette, but I also love making sure there’s some humor and personality mixed in to avoid any semblance of perfection. (After many years of chasing it, I have come to believe that perfect is boring.) We are so excited with some of the decisions we’ve already made and are looking forward to getting input from all of you lovely bees on the ones yet to come!

Thank you so much for letting me share this journey with you!

About the Mink

When I first saw the Woodland Creatures introduced on the Boards a couple months ago, I remember thinking the mink avatar was adorable. However, I was also attracted to the opossum because a band my fiance and I follow faithfully has a song about an opossum. The opossum avatar was pretty cute, too. When I was ultimately presented with the options, my instinct was to pick the mink. She looks very prim and proper, but I bet she has a few surprises tucked away in that little Kelly bag.

Welcome! You two sound like a couple of cuties, and I love Mr. Mink’s enthusiasm about the bee! Mr. P was the same way and was so glad when I finally stopped talking about applying and just applied. :) I can’t wait to hear all about your wedding planning journey!

@Mrs. Candy Apple: Did your fan affiliations change (if you follow sports)? I’ve found myself rooting for my FI’s Redskins, who always seem to be the underdogs. :)

@Miss Unicycle: The only drawback is that there is way too much beer in my fridge and around the house. Wait until you see where he proposed! It’s beer related!

@Mrs. Pony: Thank you! Junior Mink is quite a camera hog, so I’m sure there will be plenty more of him coming!

@Miss Raccoon: Speaking of adorable avatars…yours is so cute!

@Mrs. Parasol: He actually asked if he was allowed to post. I told him I’d put it to a vote. :)

@knvprincess143: Hee hee! I can’t wait to share!

@Mrs. French Bulldog: Thanks!

@Miss Aardvark: It has already been pretty fantastic! I’m so excited!
