On wedding morning, LA MoH and I woke up, showered, grabbed some OJ from the hotel lobby and headed to Mr Thimble’s aunt’s salon at 9AM.  There, we met the rest of the bridal party, Thimble Momma, and my relatives visiting from Ireland. Once our hair was done, we headed to my parents’ house where the real fun could begin, and where our photographers were meeting us to start capturing the day.
I asked a makeup artist I met at the Benefit counter to come to the house for my mom, my sister and me to ensure the perfect wedding look and of course, for the bloggable photo-ops. (Getting ready pics are some of my favorites.). Her name is Lori and she went to art school and she’s super sweet and cool.
I had some inspiration pictures to show her, but when I went to Macy’s for a trial makeover I just pointed to one of Benefit’s cartoon pin-up girls to show Lori what I wanted: Pretty pink lips and cheeks, and full lashes. We achieved the look with the “Her Name was Glowla” palette and lots of Posie Tint lip and cheek stain (my makeup addiction ever since).

While I was getting pampered and photographed, my bridesmaids did their makeup and helped each other create their own wedding day worthy looks.

Lori took a quick pic of her work as I multi-tasked and put on my jewelry. |
While I was finishing up in the makeup chair, the girls steamed their dresses and my unwieldy veil to get out any travel-induced wrinkles.
One of my favorite things about wedding morning were the unexpected (and very welcome) guests who joined us. My own mom was busy getting herself ready upstairs–something I hadn’t actually considered would need to happen in the haze of my bridal brain. Fortunately, LA MoH (who wasn’t always from LA) had her mother join us to help the girls get ready and keep us on track. My sister’s best friend and his mother came over as well, and I was overjoyed to see him (as was my mom in the pic below). And because I had nixed professional transportation of any kind, MD BM’s fiance (now husband) joined us to drive some of the girls to the venue:
With some of our favorite helpers at the ready, it was time for the girls to get dressed.
I cut the tags on my soon-to-be new sister’s dress…
And Maids of Honor from opposite coasts adjusted each others’ necklaces.
Dresses on and necklaces set, Momma Thimble and Dapper Dad ready and present…
It was time to put on my wedding gown!
