Back to My Roots

November 25th, 2011 @ 8:15 am by Ms. Gazelle

Like most brides I grew out my hair in anticipation of the wedding. It had been ages since I’ve really grown my hair out. Post-wedding I hung on to the length as I was curious to see just how long I could get my hair. Well…how long it would get before it started to drive me nuts!

Wanna see?

Don’t mind me while I whip my hair…

Well, four months post-wedding it officially started to drive me nuts! The ends felt dry and it was taking longer and longer to dry and style in the morning. This weekend I said so long to six inches of hair.

I also decided to go back to my roots by getting my colour as close to my natural blonde colour as possible. The slightly warmer blonde feels perfect for fall/winter and my hair is feeling so much softer (not to mention that it took much less time to dry this morning).

Did you wait a few months after your wedding before cutting your hair or could you not wait to cut it off?

P.S. - Yes, I own a lot of yellow clothing…

I wasn’t growing my hair out for my wedding, It’ usually just past my shoulders. But it definitely is driving me insane! Getting it cut soon!

Love the new ‘do! We’re almost three months out and I can’t cut my hair because I can’t commit to a new style yet, so you’re not alone :)

The yellow suits you! :)

Love the new chop. Maybe one day I’ll grow some balls and chop mine off. I lose a few inches at a time, but being that it’s long, you don’t tend to notice it as much!

My hair is about as long as yours was pre-cut, and I feel you on getting to that “MUST CUT” point! We’ll see how long I last :P

I get trims every few months and then go for a dramatic cut every 3-4 years. When I cut my hair, people either don’t notice at all or are totally shocked.

I think I’m going to forgo a couple trims until the spring and then see my my wedding day hair stylist thinks would be the ideal length for the big day. :)

BTW, I’m not a color aficionada, but your blond is beautiful!

I know the feeling! I had the crazy idea of growing my hair so it would be a blank canvas for my hairdresser… but two months out from my day, and after induring months of brittel, dry, unruly hair with no shape whatsoever, my stylist convinced me to get low layers like mila kunis to keep the length, but frame the face a bit and get rid of those pesky split ends.

In saying that, the length is still driving me nuts, and after the wedding (im talking, the next day!) I will go into the salon and get something like yours! It’s so cute and now and really suits you.

I have some crazy hair envy Ms Gazelle

Love the new hair cut! I’ve been growing my hair out for years and I’m dying to cut it.. But now with only 7 months left til the wedding I feel like I should stick with the long hair and go for a PWC right after the wedding!
