Pre-Engagement E-Pics

November 28th, 2011 @ 11:22 am by Mrs. Mole

From my own incredibly biased perspective, Mr. Mole and I have some pretty awesome engagement photographs. They capture our personalities, our sense of humor, and our affection for one another. The only thing that they don’t capture is my engagement ring: Mr. Mole and I had these photographs taken a good five months before he actually popped the question!

Mr. Mole used to work for an ad agency in Milwaukee. Every year, that agency would have a holiday photo shoot for its employees. The resident photographer and other members of the creative team would set up the equipment and scenery and take the shots. Mr. Mole and I jumped at the chance to participate, especially since some of the props alluded to one of our favorite shared hobbies: cross-country skiing. We also decided to allow Tom Boonen to frolic in the “snow” as well. Here’s a sampling of some of our favorite shots.

After we got engaged, we talked about getting “proper” engagement photos done. Then things got hectic: we drove 2,000 miles cross-country with all of our belongings to move to a new city and state, we started new jobs, we planned our wedding. So we decided to use the (awesome) photos that we already had.

So how exactly did we use our pre-engagement engagement photos? I can’t reveal everything yet, but here’s a sneak peek!

When did you take your engagement photos? Are you going to incorporate them into your wedding day somehow? (I am looking for some new ways to use them!)

@Cecilia: We were thinking about doing that as well!
@futureMFG: Thanks!
@Coffee cup: Haha, thanks! We have some pretty ridiculous outtakes, though, of him being wholly uncooperative. :)

@Miss Sunhat: I think so too! And they were free.99, which you can’t really beat. (Well, free plus a cash tip that we gave to the photographers.)

@Miss Honey: Thanks! I had never heard of mini-moos pre-wedding, but Mr. Mole had a run printed up as business cards before we met.
@Miss Fox: Thanks! We love those little cards too. I might love them more now, though, than when I have to attach them to a variety of things. :)

@Mrs. Ticket: Thanks! We are using them on our invitations as well. I just need to stop procrastinating and actually work on them. We want to mail them out next week!

Ah sooooo cute!!! I love them! Our pup is in our pics too, but he was way too hyper so we only took a few shots with him and then sent him back inside.

@TinyTina: Thanks! Our dog lost interest in the photoshoot and ended up just laying in the corner for awhile. That allowed us to get some other types of shots!

The idea of engagement photos has been stressing me out and this is the busiest time of year for my job. I just recently emailed my photog and asked if we could switch to having a post-wedding shoot (we paid for an engagement shoot). She was totally cool about it.

@Miss Mink: I think a post-wedding shot sounds like a good idea! Honestly, I also decided against doing a real engagement photoshoot because I had no idea what we would do with so many pictures of ourselves — especially knowing that we would get hundreds more at the wedding. It would be really neat to do a 1-year anniversary shoot or maybe a “trash the dress” shoot.
