When my mom and I bought my wedding dress back in November, Foxy Mama also decided to gift me with that blingtastic headband that my consultant adorned me in. (Isn’t it nuts how they do that? You know, just happening to give you all the little accessories to make you look like a model bride just like those you see in the magazines, and then you’re convinced you need everything?) The consultant said that the headband (headpiece? hair piece? blingy thingy?) was made of Swarovski crystals, which in my mind justified the exorbitant price a bit more.
Drooling. I love it. / Image via Erica Koesler
I mean, I know my dress wasn’t terribly expensive, but the blingy thingy ended up being almost two thirds the price of the dress. Nutso. It did indeed complement and accent the dress perfectly, and my mom was in love and adamant about getting it. Me? Anyway, after that I noticed him in his room a lot and had to pass his room on the way to mine. I was intrigued by him! So one night, while returning to our hall slightly inebriated, I decided to enter his room and find out more about this mysterious man. Although I was annoying, I somehow got to him and we became fast friends. I found myself spending every free moment I had talking to him. It took three months for our friendship to turn romantic, and we have been together ever since. I can honestly say that I never thought I would be marrying Mr. Elk when I was a freshman in college! But we have grown together as a couple and as individuals—and I can’t imagine my life without him.

Once we were all done with family photos, it was time for Mr. Lion and me to pose for portraits by ourselves. Our photographer wanted to show the diversity of the venue, so we got really into it and posed all over! But first, our videographer wanted us to recreate the moment from Disney/Pixar’s “Up,” when Ellie flung her arms around her new husband.
Our photographer brought some props for us to pose with…
