Mrs. Lioness's Picture
Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney Engagement Date: August 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!
About Mrs. Lioness

Tossing the bouquet was one of the moments I was most looking forward to at our wedding. I’ve dreaded participating in the tradition at other weddings, but I was really excited about a little surprise I had in store for my single girls.

As I threw the bouquet up in the air, it burst into six smaller bouquets! Each individual bouquet was tied to a quote about love.

I loved that no one was put on the spot. Being single at a wedding can be a really difficult experience to endure. Instead of these girls feeling as though their relationship status was on display, they were united with other single girls as they celebrated love. Best of all, each quote that each girl caught seemed perfectly appropriate for her, as though the bouquets chose their recipients.

Are you doing a bouquet toss? Are you going the traditional route or trying something new?

i love your idea! it’s something I’ve toyed with myself.
However, I was thinking about switching it up a little. Since it’s a lesbian wedding, I was thinking of doing the garter toss for the ladies! LOL!!

love your idea!

I’m giving my bouquet to the couple that has been married the longest. I’m pretty sure it’ll be my grandparents and that makes my heart happy :) my grandma will LOVE it, and my grandpa is my favorite person in the world.
if its not them - i still love the idea because it honors marriage.

i haven’t decided if ill still to the tradition for single ladies with a smaller bouquet or not, but I’m betting that i will!

I LOVE this idea, but what did your husband do? Just the traditional one garter toss, or did he do something else?

I love this idea (too many competitive friends, someone might lose a limb in my bouquet toss…not because any of them want to get married, they just like to win)

How did you make sure that there were enough mini bouquets for all the single gals?

@Rubies: I tallied up the single girls in my head, and figured there were about 15. I started to make 10 bouquets but, frankly, I got tired of it around 6! So, I had 6 bouquets for 15ish girls. It was still competitive; not all of them were included. But even the girls who didn’t catch one appreciated the creativity, so i think the message of “love > who’s next” was received either way :)

Those bouquets are fabulous! I’m also a bride who dreaded tosses as a single woman, but is now is really excited about her own bouquet toss.
There will be far too many single ladies at my wedding to do a bursting bouquet, but I really wish I could copy your idea. :)
