After we were married, it was time to start our family together by lighting our marriage candle. You cannot see it very easily here, but our candles actually have our “squiggle” design that started on our invitations.
Then we had a seat and whispered sweet nothings to each other…most likely something along the lines of, “hehe husband,” and “hehe wifey!”
My childhood friend A started off our Prayers of the Faithful that we wrote ourselves with:
We pray for Marcus and Sarah on their wedding day; may their lives be filled with laughter and happiness and that their love continue to grow throughout the years.
Mr Teaspoon’s friend whom he originally met playing cricket lead the prayer for our family and friends:
We pray for our family and friends and all those who have helped Marcus and Sarah on their marriage journey; may they continue to be a part of Marcus’ and Sarah’s lives.
Mr Teaspoon’s uncle and Godfather then read a prayer for our dearly departed grandparents:
We pray for all those who are no longer here with us today, especially Hilma, Jack, John and Lyn. We know their thoughts and prayers are with Marcus and Sarah on their special day.
C was up next; she’s the lovely lady who lent me my beautiful wedding day purse.
We pray for Sarah and Marcus’ parents, Dave and Rhonda, Stephen and Margaret whose examples and guidance have helped make them who they are today, and will continue to shape them for the future.
By this point, I remember whispering to Mr Teaspoon, “Did we miss something? We can’t be up to communion already! It’s going so fast!”
Our brothers brought us the bread and the wine for us to take to the altar.
According to many of our guests (more specifically, the female guests), they specifically remember this point in our service, because it is when they saw my blue shoes!
During communion we chose to have Ave Maria sung. Our singer Phoebe and musician Jonathan on the piano absolutely knocked it out of the park. It was so beautiful and I am so glad we had live musicians at our wedding.
Here is some more of that beautiful sunshine shining through the window behind us.
The nuptial blessing was then done by Father Chris in front of that gorgeous window.
We then did the sign of peace with our parents and some of those close to the front. These are some of my favourite photos from the wedding. They really show our families coming together.
It was then back to our seats to take communion. I was so worried about doing this wrong, but it was successful in the end.
Register time! Until you are the one getting married, you realise why it takes so long up there signing the registry—I think I signed three different things, in addition to the form that we signed on the night of our rehearsal. There was still left time to giggle with my hubby.
Just a short 43 minutes later (yes, our priest timed himself), the ceremony was over and it was time for us to walk back down the aisle as Mr and Mrs Teaspoon! Right about then was when I remembered what song was being played, and it sounded awesome. Can you guess what it is from the entry that we put in the program?
Processional
Il film con gli aerei Harold Faltermeyer
(I will give you a hint: the title is The movie with the planes, written in Italian courtesy of Google translator.
Did you guess what it was? Our male guests sure did—this is the point was where Mr Teaspoon and I heard someone say, “is that the Top Gun theme?” It was my friend’s husband on the left of the shot, saying it to bridesmaid M’s fiance behind him!
I’m not sure that my smile could be any bigger right here. I was walking down the aisle with my husband and I was walking down to the TOP GUN THEME!
Second kiss as husband and wife:
Do you plan to surprise your guests with your processional song? What will it be?
