Spoonful of Love: Free Hugs

December 3rd, 2011 @ 11:30 am by Mrs. Teaspoon

Never in my life have I hugged pretty much everyone that I know in a matter of half an hour! I actually really enjoyed this part of the day. Apart from every single person telling me I looked beautiful, that they loved my dress and that the Top Gun theme was Amazeballs…this was the first time I got to say hello to many of our guests and albeit brief, it was lovely.

I started out with little bro’s girlfriend. At this point I was still wanting to look pretty and carry my bouquet. That was ditched rather swiftly.

My Grandad walked out of the church, wandered over to give me a hug, and I swear all I did was say, “Hi Grandad!” and he began to cry tears.

He assures me they were happy tears! I may or may not have made a small quip about him not wearing a kilt; he was threatening to for months before the wedding to wear one (he has recently discovered our long lost Scottish heritage apparently).

My other Pop—for some reason he chose to wear a tartan bow-tie. I think Grandad was jealous he didn’t think of that.

This is A, one of my dear high school friends, who looks really really happy in this picture! Probably because she was threatening to flash me as I walked down the aisle if I looked like I was losing my shiz. She’s probably relieved she didn’t have to.

This is Mr Teaspoon with E, one of my friends from primary school. Apparently our photographers only took photos of me hugging everyone?

This photo actually made me giggle when I saw it. C is staring straight at the camera and I was not in the least surprised…when I sent him an email wit,h “you just couldn’t help yourself,” he wanted his wife and our other friend photoshopped out—I’m guessing so there would be more focus on him? I’m actually a little surprised that he and another few of our friends didn’t ’photobomb’ any of our photos!

Mr Teaspoon with his golfing buddy and mate—they seem to be having a great time! I think L is just relieved his reading is over. I didn’t know how stressful they were until I did one for bridesmaid M’s wedding a few weeks ago!

Next up, a quick peek at the group and family snaps.

What are your immediate plans after your ceremony? Will you have a receiving line and stay around to mingle with guests or will you promptly whisk away for pictures (or something else)?

We didn’t have a receiving line, but we did get bombarded with hugs right after the ceremony! I got hugged so much that my veil was yanked out! But it was great :)

Hi there, Mrs. Teaspoon! I really enjoy your blog :) If you don’t mind me asking, what type of earrings are you wearing in your wedding photos? They look so elegant, exactly what I am looking for! Do they happen to be pearl drops with diamonds on top?

Beautiful photos of a beautiful bride! Looks like it was the perfect day. Congratulations to you and all of the very best!

@SarahM786: They are pearl drops with crystals on the top. They were by Georgini, a company in Australia I’m not sure if they ship internationally. They were beautiful, Mr Tsp bought them for me for my confirmation!

Awww I love these photos! We’re not having a receiving line, but we’ll be going table to table during dinner greeting guests so I hope our photogs get a chance to snap some great photos like these!

There will be no receiving line for us, we’re being whisked away to go have a picnic on the beach for about 30-45 minutes with just us an our photographer. This we have at least a little bit of time together before the craziness of the reception. Plus it will be a great romantic photo op :)

We are having the ceremony and reception at a huge old ballroom so we are leaving while our guests go into the second slightly smaller room for a cocktail hour and our wedding planner changes the large ballroom from ceremony to reception. Then we come back for the grand entrance and introduction as Mr. and Mrs. B for the first time.

Yay, someone else who did a receiving line! We did one since we would not have the organized opportunity of visiting every table, and I am so happy we did. I think it is natural for people to want to swing by and pass along their well-wishes anyway and it helps to be prepared with the receiving line. We just did one with just my new hubby and me and we kept it moving at a good pace and had wine punch and snacks to help the guests wait it out in comfort.

I love your pictures and descriptions!

I have a feeling we will have an impromptu receiving line because of the flow…so good to know there are great photo moments!
