About Ms Seahorse

The Randomizer: Seahorse

December 5th, 2011 @ 6:23 am by Ms Seahorse

It’s been over a year since our wedding, and a few months since our (dangerously, awesomely crazy) first anniversary. We are sort of slacker married people: we haven’t printed pictures yet, there’s no album, we don’t have a cute sign outside our house with our awesome new last name on it. But other than that? Marriage is awesome.

But I’m not here today to talk about marriage. Nope, for once, I am just going to talk about the wedding. And by “talk about,” I mean “show you pretty pictures of.” Mrs. Avocado recently talked about revisiting her wedding by randomizing a bunch of pictures, and it sounded good to me! So here are some glimpses into our wedding day, in no particular order at all. I still feel warm and fuzzy looking at them.

Our place cards. The stamp is from our save the dates, and my awesome then-fiancee and still-sister spent an entire day making these while I was sick on the couch recovering from my bachelorette party. I still feel sick thinking about that morning, but these are beautiful, and I loved how the two of them rallied and didn’t even give me a hard time for sleeping through all their hard work.

Post-ceremony photos. I was so happy:

I love how happy our minister looks here. I have no idea what exactly is going on here, but we are all pretty pleased about it.

And because they are amazing and this is probably a picture of vow-sharing, here are a bit of her vows to me:

I promise to love you when love is simple and when love is complex. I promise to create with you a home filled with joy, kindness, respect, and comfort. Our home will be abundant with experiences that have shaped—and will always shape—our shared life: more tea than we could ever hope to drink, a porch filled with plants in various states of aliveness, falling asleep on the couch, figuring out who takes out the dog and who feeds the cats, stopping whatever separate tasks we are engrossed in to dance around the kitchen, and all the other adventures that make up this blessing that is our life.

Our first dance, the original, dancing-in-the-kitchen style (as referenced above). Dancing in the kitchen, with or without music, has always been a fundamental aspect of our relationship.

After the ceremony, we decided to have some quiet time, just the two of us, in a canoe. I love that we did this. Those are my old-last-name initials on the side of the boat. If you’re considering doing this, keep in mind that while you have time away from people, they will probably all be on land staring at you and taking pictures and eating delicious food. Mostly we just took the canoe for a quick spin.

Toasts!

Our first dance in front of everyone! Also dancing-in-the-kitchen style. That’s the best kind.

My beautiful, beautiful about-to-be-wife. Looking at this picture makes me so fluttery.

Isn’t she just striking? Getting ready… so glad we did this together, though her makeup skills put mine to shame.

And finally, some of our favorite people who really made this wedding happen. I thought our photographer was crazy when she said “Walk up this sandy beach towards me, don’t fall!” I think we are all laughing because someone almost fell. Love it.

It’s really wonderful to have an excuse to revisit these pictures and maybe share some I haven’t shown you before. What an amazing day, and worth everything we put into it.
