After our first dance, we were whisked away to our sweetheart table and presented with this gorgeous salad.
First things first however—our Priest Friend blessed our meal and our marriage.
After all of the appetizers we chowed on during our special cocktail 15 minutes we weren’t feeling very hungry. In fact, we were downright full. We took the opportunity to greet our guests instead of eating. It worked out well for us and would you believe we were able to kiss and hug all 250 guests? I didn’t think it was possible but we sure did. I thought visiting each table would be annoying, I’m not very good at small talk, but it was actually quite pleasant. Being passed around from loved one to loved one, two hundred and fifty times over, is an amazing feeling.
I was very excited for our dinner playlist. I had sculpted the list for over two years and was quite proud of the finished product. I did not want to hear Michael Buble croon about love or Frank Sinatra’s passion for New York. In fact, our DJ was rather surprised when I requested that absolutely no Frank Sinatra be played at our wedding. My Aunt didn’t care for his music much and I always remembered this about her. It wasn’t often that she voiced distaste for anything. Only pleasant memories were allowed on the wedding day and our DJ was happy to oblige.
I thought this was a great opportunity to really make it our own. When making our rounds at the tables, my cousin gave me the best compliment of the wedding: “This music screams you.” I don’t think I have ever been more satisfied with myself than in that moment. Where’s my damn back patter?!
I’m not a lyrics girl, so some of these choices may seem a bit odd but they really translated well.
Instead of clinking glasses we requested that our guests get up and sing a song with the word love in order to get us to kiss. We did this because, well, it’s fricken hilarious! I wanted to see what songs some of our friends and family could come up with.
The Barney Theme Song
We happily indulged all of our crooners.
An overly excited version of She Loves You by The Beatles
A rousing, albeit tone-deaf, rendition of Cupid by 112.
My sissies know how much I love that song!
… and a very sweet version of Bushel and a Peck
