I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. The Randomizer: Plaid

December 7th, 2011 @ 10:35 am by Mrs. Plaid

When I was told that we’d be running a new bee feature here on Weddingbee where we’d share random pictures from our weddings that y’all might not normally see, I knew I wanted to participate. I was really surprised by how ten randomly chosen photos could really tell the story of our wedding. I just finished up my recaps this past summer, but there are definitely some photos in here I didn’t share with y’all. And in case you don’t remember, Mr. Plaid and I got married in October 2010 in Austin and celebrated with a very casual affair.

This first picture is one of the small favors I made for guests. Wildflowers are huge in Austin so I crafted these seed matchbooks I found from Martha Stewart.

We chose to include a handfasting ceremony in which we “tied the knot” with the help of our moms.

A view of Mr. P and his dad/best man looking on as I make my entrance into the ceremony site.

This photo was taken right after we saw each other for the first time on our wedding day. I’m so glad we decided to do a first look. One of the best decisions of the day!

I was on the dance floor from the time the music started until the end of the night. No, the dance floor wasn’t crowded, but the music was good and I had friends (and my mom – she was out there the entire night) to dance with. That’s all I wanted.

Now when I said the first look was one of the best decisions of the day, having Freebirds cater was the best decision of the day, hands down. Everyone loved that they could customize their burrito to their exact liking. And Freebirds even made quesadillas, nachos and salads for people that asked. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly fit into our vision of the day!

We cheated and shared our first kiss of the day during our first look. I love that you can see Mr. P smiling at me while kissing me—I guess he liked what he saw. ;)

More happy people dancing the night away!

Not the most exciting of pictures but this is us listening to our maid of honor (and #1 sister) and best man/dad give their speeches. I think we were still in burrito comas during the speeches.

It’s only appropriate that was the last photo chosen to share by the randomizer. It was taken during our final dance of the evening. I’m pretty sure I was passionately serenading Mr. P with my rendition of Last Dance by Donna Summer.

All photos taken by the fabulous Nathan Russell!

We both wish we could go back and do it all over again. I don’t think we’d change a thing. Of course, I’m not sure where we’d find the time. These days we’re all consumed with diapers, formula and spit-up. Our first anniversary present came a bit early this year in form of a baby.

If you wanna keep up with me these days I’m over at Orange You Sweet trying to squeeze in a post whenever I can!
