I love running on the treadmill, buying bath products from Lush, learning new moves in step aerobics, and exploring my neighborhood on foot. I am sometimes snobby about food, but I am rarely snobby about books. I read everything from Geoffrey Chaucer to Iris Murdoch to Chuck Klosterman to Candace Bushnell. Invitations Revealed

December 9th, 2011 @ 5:49 am by Mrs. Mole

Our invitations have now made it to most of their destinations. Faster than expected, even: we got a text from Mr. Mole’s sister the day after I dropped them in the mail. So now it’s time that they make it to the hive’s computer screens! My warning is that there are lots and lots of photos ahead. The coral envelopes are our Vegas invitations; the sage envelopes are our Milwaukee invitations.

Two kinds of stamps: USPS, Personalized Address

Imagine you get one of these in your mailbox.

I don’t dot my i’s in real life, for whatever reason!

You flip the card to open it properly (since, like me, you would never, ever just rip a card open with your hands. Ha.)

Some twine is peeking out…

Vegas is looking pretty good right now…

Milwaukee’s not so bad either…

You pull all of the paper out to take a better look.

Moo mini-cards, RSVP card with envelope, invitation

You untie the twine to better take a better look at all of the components of the invitation.

Don’t forget about the Milwaukee party!

You notice that there aren’t any other insert cards with the invitation. How are you going to know the directions to the ceremony or what time the reception starts? Then you notice something on the back of those moo minicards…

Moo minicards show off our dog, our wedding website

You are now so excited that you will be sure to return the RSVP well before the deadline. Right? Right!

We ended up sending out about a dozen invitations for Vegas and another forty invitations for Milwaukee. It probably took me a couple hours in total to put the invitations together, but it’s hard to tell exactly as I was usually watching Criminal Minds at the same time. I just set up my supplies on the couch next to me.

One serial killer = one stack of invites

How much work will you put into your invitations? How much time will they take to assemble?

Love the invites! Very fun! Where did you get the coral color envelopes, I have been looking all over for some and cannot find the right color?

Hey Moley,
So this is how i want to set up my invites as well. Tied inside with NO inner envelope.
How did you work the addressing though. With single friends who’ll bring dates, or to families with kids. Ive been reading the outside env would say ‘John Smith’ then the inner would say ‘John Smith, Jane Smith, Child Smith 1, Child Smith 2…… or Single Lady for the out, and inside would say, Single Lady and Guest.
But… Me no want no inner env!!! What did you do Mole?

@arielle: Thanks! I got my inspiration from a lot of bees’ STD cards!
@thenj9said: Good question. We ordered half of our moo minicards to be thank you tags with the text “Thank you for sharing in our day!” We will be attaching these to the programs in Vegas and the favors in Milwaukee. On our website, then, we will ask people to upload pictures before the event for a wedding slideshow (us through the ages) and then after the wedding (us at the wedding). So two birds, one stone!

@Renee: Thanks! The coral envelopes came from SilhouetteBlue. She calls them “papaya.” Sorry that I can’t give you any more information than that!
@ellragu: Again, another good question! We have a pretty small wedding/party, so that definitely helped. We addressed the outer envelope with both people’s names if they were in a relationship, sending it to the person we were closest to if they didn’t live together. (Most did.) Many of our friends are coupled up or married, and we used word of mouth to let our single friends know that they could bring a date if they wished. It just happened to turn out that only one of our sets of invited guests have a child under 18 — and it’s Mr. Mole’s sister and BIL! Their baby’s name was on the outer envelope.

@Miss Aardvark: Thanks! I have to admit that Miss Honey’s post last week got my butt in gear. :)
@jacinda10: Thank you!
@k8e: Wow, good eye! It’s a great font.

Hooray for Moo cards!! I love both sets of invites - they’re simple but done up, if that makes sense? And.. confession.. I also don’t dot my i’s!

@Miss Fox: Thanks! My 3rd grade teacher would be so disappointed that I didn’t keep up my penmanship practice. ;)

@Mrs. Pony: Thank you very much! We think that they turned out better than we imagined, and we thank the universe for aligning in such a way to make some of the details possible (the fact that the love stamps match both colors of the envelopes, for example? totally unplanned).

@Cecilia: I got the twine from this website: http://whiskergraphics.com/category/Divine_Twine/c3

It shipped quickly. Now we have a TON of twine left over, though. I think it will have to make appearances elsewhere in our wedding. :)

Love the invitations! I’m also so jealous your reception is at roots! I lived in Milwaukee for a few years and they have the best view :)

@amers219: Thanks! I love the view too. It’s a little better in the summer, but I think it will look nice in February as well. ;)
