Hair Trial Complete!

December 12th, 2011 @ 12:22 pm by Miss Elk

The other day I stopped into my hairdresser’s for a quick trim and a hair trial! If you remember, I already bought some fake hair to extend my ponytail and give the illusion of thick hair. Therefore, I knew going into my trial that I wanted a side ponytail hairstyle. I also thought I’d really like to include some sort of braid into my hair. I’m not big on super intricate updos, but wanted to keep my hair out of my face so I wasn’t tempted to touch it all night long. Now I forgot my fake hair, so you will have to picture it with a long, thick, curly ponytail, but here is what we came up with:

(personal photos ahead)

Hair Trial Complete! : wedding hair long island trial Hair2b01 Hair Trial Complete! : wedding hair long island trial Hair2b02 As you can see the braid wraps around my entire head. It’s not all that defined in the front but gets more defined as it goes. And just in case you need a refresher and don’t feel like clicking on the link, here is me with my fake hair so you can see how much length I will gain with Jessica Simpson’s Hair-Do:

I think the long hair will really make the style—it definitely looks a little kooky with my tiny ponytail though. Anyhoo, I’m happy with it. I think a hair accessory will make a nice finishing touch, but I can’t decide what I should get.

Option #1) large fabric flower: this is really sweet, adorable, and feminine.

Option #2) rhinestone bow: I don’t think you guys have really realized my true love for bows, but I LOVE BOWS! they are so cute! and this would definitely elevate my wedding look to a little more fancy.

Option #3: mini orchids/pins scattered in the braid: my florist originally planted this idea in my head, stating that she could provide some mini orchids to be placed throughout my hair. I think this look is adorable, sweet, and fits the look I am going for. Is it weird, though, that I would not be using orchids ANYWHERE else in the wedding?

I am super confused and don’t know which accessory would work best. So hive, please help me! Which one do you like most?!

And was your hairstyle a breeze to decide on, or did it take a while to find something that worked well for you?

DO THE BOW! Gosh the hairdo is perfect, and the extra oomph from the extensions will push it over the edge. Nice choice!

Your hair trial looks like a glowing success! As for hair decoration, I like them all, but the bow is super cute, so it gets my vote!

Love the side braid. I saw a photo on Pinterest where a ribbon was woven in the side braid and tied in a bow under one ear. The ponytail was left plain (so you could curl it).

The bow is calling my name also. I wish I could have that bow for the holiday party this weekend but I probably won’t be able to find one.

Very pretty!I really like the flowers scattered through the braid, that’s one of my favourite hairstyles of all time (has been since I was about 5). You don’t necessarily have to use orchids, either. You could use stephanotis (this is what I’d use if I could figure out a way to incorporate flowers into my hairstyle) or something like that or, really, any flower you want. :)

I love the braid! In terms of accessories, if it were me I would probably go with the one flower, but the bow would be a close second, and since you are such a bow person I say go for that!

I love the big flower…or I could see a jeweled comb at the base of the side pony tail.

I’ve actually been thinking of a side pony myself!

I say go for the bows. If you really love them, you’ll especially love your wedding pictures that show the details of your hair. Small choices like that really will make your day special for you.

Love your hair!!! I think the braid is so pretty that a simple accessory would really highlight it. The bow that you picked out is gorgeous and I think it would work really well!
