Mrs. Lamb, Norfolk Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student Engagement Date: January 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
About Mrs. Lamb

The Randomizer: Lamb

December 13th, 2011 @ 8:31 am by Mrs. Lamb

Hi Hive! I’m coming up on my two year anniversary and was so happy to buzz back to say hello and revisit my wedding. I got married in Norfolk, VA on the coldest day of the year on New Year’s weekend. The loose theme was vintage black and white. Though it all looks pretty traditional in this selection of random photographs, I remember shocked family members asking me where I ever got the idea of red shoes from and how in the world I DIYed fabric bouquets. The wedding world has come a long way, huh? Looking back, I feel lots of joy. It was a fun day, but the best part has been being married to my best friend ever since!

The dance floor was packed all night and I love that this photograph shows off my beautiful bridesmaid in the middle. If you peek in the back, you can also see my event coordinator, Pavaune!

I wasn’t in love with my dress, but I thought it was really pretty. It’s OK to not care about some stuff as much as other stuff. My mom cried when I tried this one one and that was that.

One of the best moments to me was when the band pulled me onstage to lip synch I Will Survive.  I did such a bang up job that everyone thought I was really singing it. My FIL thought it was bow worthy! Our wedding pictures of him are actually really important to us now because he unexpectedly passed away this past summer. I realized later that two pictures I had enlarged of us and framed, he was in the background of both. I like to think of him as being with us in spirit through those photos.

I love being on stage and dancing, so I was really looking forward to our first dance. I think Lambster looks a little apprehensive in our introduction photo because he knew the first dance was coming up. We ended up rocking it!

Our pastor’s homily on forgiveness has been more useful than I sometimes care to admit (because in doing so, I’m also admitting that I mess up - a lot!). Forgiveness is about choosing to love someone. The piece of marriage advice that I like to pass on is that love is an action and it’s a choice you make every day. Forgiveness is a big piece in choosing to love someone - for everything from eating the last piece of cake to full on fights.

I mentioned I love dancing right? I also really liked our gobo featuring the monogram I made. I forgot we even had that until I just saw it in the picture!

My mom loved this photo of me getting ready. I hated it and refused to immortalize it in her parent’s album. Sadly, the randomizer saw fit to bring this out from hiding.

More dancing. What can I say? If the ceremony revolved around commitment and love, the reception revolved around food and dancing. :)

Lambster gave up on leading during his dance with his mom, finally just letting her lead! This is another important photograph because just a few months after our wedding, MIL had two strokes that were nearly fatal. She’s made a remarkable recovery and we continue to cheer her on!

I love this photo of my wedding singers dancing and singing to each other. I was ecstatic to receive a call earlier this year that they’re engaged! Congrats to Stephan and Emily - lots of love to you!

Thanks so much for inviting me back to share again with you all! Since my Weddingbee days, Lambster and I have been gallivanting around the country since our wedding, first moving to Raleigh-Durham for grad school and living in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re living it up SF style, taking it all in on the golden coast and adjusting to apartment living! I’m still blogging over at Palindrome at Home and tweeting at @PalindromeHome. Lots of bee love to you all and happy wedding planning!

That’s too funny that I managed to sneak my lil’ mug into that first photo! :)

What an awesome look back on that special day! I still think back fondly to it. Happy anniversary to you both! I wish you many, many more happy years together!
