Note about this post: I do not mean to stir up a fur-debate, so just know that from here on out whenever I say “fur,” I mean fur-esque.
When Mr. Dalmatian and I decided on our date, we considered a few things. One thing that we didn’t really consider was the time of year, because it seemed like a given that we would get married in the spring or summer. Not only did this fit with our desire to have an outdoor ceremony, it also seemed to make the most sense with the timeline of our lives, since we would both be done with grad school. I am very happy with this decision, and can’t wait to be surrounded by lovely May flowers on our wedding day, but there is one small thing I am sad to be missing.

Sporting a glamorous fur coat!
Sometime towards the beginning of my wedding planning journey, I was on Facebook browsing pictures of a girl I knew in college (Please tell me I am not alone in Facebook-stalking the weddings of anyone who is or was an acquaintance of mine, or anyone who is an acquaintance of an acquaintance of mine…), and there was one picture that took my breath away. She and her new husband were making their exit from the reception into sprinkling snowflakes and she was wearing a stunning fur coat. It was such an Old Hollywood glamour look, and I was immediately obsessed.
Now, I do realize I am getting married in Nashville. In May. NOT in Chicago in December. But I was not quite ready to let this one go. So I took the fur look, and combined it with another style that I have been a fan of since cutting out this picture from a Martha Stewart Weddings magazine months and months ago.

Furfect! Sorry, I couldn’t resist using this pun one more time. I immediately bookmarked it. I went back to the site and admired it on a regular basis, but wasn’t pulling the trigger quite yet just because it didn’t seem like an urgent need and I figured I would deal with it later. But then I saw that some of the other sizes had sold out - talk about lighting a fire under me! With the help of Mama Dalmatian, I browsed some other sites and stores to make sure that this was exactly what I wanted. Sure enough, I didn’t find anything I liked more so I finally went ahead and pulled the trigger.

| Personal Photos. Pardon the awkward angle and unwashed hair. |
I was so excited when it arrived that I ripped into the box in the car while still in the post office parking lot, and then rushed home to try it on.
As I slid my arms into it, I was so happy because 1) it looked just how I imagined it and 2) this was literally the softest thing I had ever put on.
Did you have any wedding wants that didn’t work with your season? Are you wearing any sort of cover-up attire on your wedding day?
