Non-Floral Centerpieces

December 19th, 2011 @ 11:29 am by Miss Opossum

I have a confession…I love flowers at weddings. I love that they add a scent (our strongest sensory memory, by the way!) and color to the decor palate. I know that they only last a few days and they tend to be expensive, but I can’t help it. I think they are beautiful.

On the other hand, there are some non-floral centerpieces out there that I think are incredibly creative and chic. Some of these options are so romantic and beautiful they just might be enough to sway me in the “non- floral” direction.

This first one is all about setting a mood. It’s simple but still creates a unique touch with all the romantic candlelight.

The second is all about texture. This idea uses a stump and tapered candles wrapped in a variety of twine to create interest in a natural looking centerpiece (that isn’t made of flowers)!

The Southern girl in me can’t get over the next one…reminds me of driving through back roads in Alabama with my mom and seeing miles and miles of fluffy white cotton. It’s neutral and pretty, and it grows but isn’t a flower.

This last centerpiece idea would be a great DIY element. It’s creative, it’s quirky, and it’s just plain fun! This little gem was designed for an Ikea photoshoot.

I think the perfect mixture for me is going to be a mixture of floral and non-floral.

Anyone else plan anything creative and “non-floral” for their centerpieces?

I love all of your non-floral center pieces. I am going that route too and need to get cracking on DIY. :)

Im planning on doing pretty much the same thing as the last “ikea” picture.
Using Blue Mason Jars, and putting 3 or so tissue paper flowers, im DIYing, inside them. Perhaps some moss, im not sure yet. :)

But I like it that way bc it saves money, its fun, and it shows you care. :p

I LOVE the tree stump though… its so different AND classy!!!

All of these inspiration pics are great! Non-floral centerpieces can be so lovely. We had florals mixed with other things for our centerpieces, like tea candles, vintage boots, and mason jars. It was perfect!

All of your ideas are fantastic! I think we’ll be using pearls as some of the vase filler for (silk) submerged flowers, as well as my mortars and pestles (what can I say, pharmacy nerd) on the tables. Thank you for sharing!

I just love the romance of candles. We’re having floral centerpieces but lots and lots of candles as well!

I love love love the way candles in different sized holders look on a table, but I’ve found that a bunch of candles plus the glassware needed can be just as expensive as floral centerpieces. I also LOVE the cotton, but its a little too rustic for what I’m going for. Can’t wait to see what your tables will look like!

Love these! We’re thinking of a mix of floral and non-floral as well.

I like the first one a lot, partially because I also like the look of long tables!
