It's funny to say out loud, but we're former coworkers turned betrothed---now planning a wedding in the city of Brotherly Love. For three years, we've been eating our way through Philadelphia, playing tourist at home, and cheering for every sports team in the 215. How to Save the Date? Part III

December 19th, 2011 @ 9:24 am by Miss Turkey

So the paper-store route did not work out, and I was headed down the custom path. I started Googling away for “custom invitations Philly” and found that, in the area, there seemed to be a lot of options…all with great reputations. I looked at all their samples, blogs, client commentary, etc. However, I kept going back to the website of one—Two Paperdolls.

Photos like the one above were drawing me in—so pretty! So coordinated! I couldn’t resist scheduling an appointment.

I was sent some estimates on costs (ouch) before my visit, so I was still unsure about whether I was going to pull the trigger. However, after my consultation with Nicole, I was certain that this was the right decision. I saw so many amazing pieces that they had done for other couples—you almost felt like you knew who they were in looking at what they chose for their design. Nicole listened to all my ideas and shared which ones would and would not work. And, probably just to make me feel good about myself (which it did), she took photocopies of my doodles! I left the meeting excited to see our first proofs.

Only five days later, we had the first proofs in our hand. A-MAZ-ING. We saw our colors come to life and our ideas executed even better than we had imagined. I’ll skip the revision process (you probably don’t care about our PMS color discussion or debate over whether or not to use the Kimmel Center dome) and instead share with you our final proof.

The blank space is where our engagement picture would go. It pains me to blur, but the words through the numbers say, for example, “the first of May two thousand twelve.” / Proof courtesy of Two Paperdolls

I know we’re biased over here in the Turkey household, but do you think they’re amazing or what??

Now, we had our proofs in September, well before their scheduled delivery in late October. This meant the cards sat unfinished at Two Paperdolls for almost a month. Why? Well, I was planning to do calligraphy for our save the dates and invites and had asked if I could have the envelopes early to get crackin’. So, in my final save-the-date post (What? Doesn’t everyone take four posts to get to the finished product?), I’ll share with you what our guests received.

However, you’ll have to wait a bit…a few things happened before these got out the door.

Was there anything you splurged on that was totally worth the cost?

They look great! We splurged a bit on our STDs, and we don’t regret it at all.

@Miss Eagle: Thank you, Eagle!

@Mrs. Pony: They did such a great job with those elements - glad I had help.

@Coffee cup: Thanks! I was so tempted to write a note on the outside of the envelope telling guests to make sure they opened the right way ;)

@Mrs. Trail Mix: Thank you!

@Mrs. Socks: Thanks! I loved all the yellow accents in your wedding - gorgeous!! We couldn’t figure out how to incorporate in our suite, though.

@Mrs. Parasol: I want to find a fun way to display the liner…any thoughts?

@TinyTina: Thank you! I thought they looked better in person, but, of course, I’m biased!

@Miss Fox: I’m obsessed with the Philly skyline. We actually have a few pictures of it in our apartment too (some with the Comcast building, some without).
