I love running on the treadmill, buying bath products from Lush, learning new moves in step aerobics, and exploring my neighborhood on foot. I am sometimes snobby about food, but I am rarely snobby about books. I read everything from Geoffrey Chaucer to Iris Murdoch to Chuck Klosterman to Candace Bushnell. My fiance and I are getting married on our third anniversary!

Holiday Hustle (and Bustles)

December 22nd, 2011 @ 8:49 am by Mrs. Mole

This holiday season, Mr. Mole and I are going to visit my family in Wisconsin. We are really looking forward to this vacation because it gives us a chance to spend time and celebrate with our loved ones. We look forward to exchanging presents, eating lots of my mom’s delicious Christmas cookies, and lounging around in new fleece pajamas (a family tradition).

Because our wedding will be less than 6 weeks away, our trip to Wisconsin is also going to be filled with a lot of wedding-related activities. Mr. Mole and I will be attending our co-ed shower, which will be thrown by two of my aunts. We received the invitation — which rivals our wedding invitations, for sure — last month, and we are so excited.

Also in Wisconsin, we will be assembling our party favors, another project involving our moo mini-cards and Divine Twine.

We will be sampling our menu at Roots and finalizing some of the logistical details of the party. My sister and I will be going to a nail salon to do a test-run of the colors for our wedding manicures and pedicures (well, okay, they probably don’t neeeeed a test run, but it will sure be fun!).

I am especially happy to do some of this planning in Wisconsin over the holidays because it means that my mom will get to be involved. I know that she feels like she is missing out on some of the wedding activities — like shopping for a dress or picking out invitations — because we live so far away. As such, it will be nice to do some of the planning and preparation together.

Are you combining any holiday plans with any wedding planning? If so, what do you plan to accomplish?

Good luck with the final preparations! We are getting married in May but our Christmas vacation will also be filled with lots of wedding-related fun. We are visiting my fiancé’s family in the city in which we’re getting married. His mom has been slowly collecting various paraphenalia (he’s there already and says her basement looks like “wedding central”), so we’ll get a chance to go through it all.

What’s even more special is that my sister (MOH) will be flying out to meet us and spend Christmas with us too, so this is really our one chance to visit the venue together and make some key decorating decisions. I’m looking forward to it. Happy holidays and enjoy the fleece pyjamas!!

Ha, yes!

We’re not travelling for Christmas, since both our family’s live in town, but we’re finishing up paper flowers for centerpieces and my bouquet, plus my mom and I are finishing my dress the day after Christmas. Printing programs & other projects hopefully as well.

Good times, I hope to feel significantly more accomplished come the 28th when I return to work. At which point the wedding will be 2.5 weeks away!

Awww, have fun at your shower! That invitation is so pretty!

We’re having the wedding up near my parents’ house so every trip mean something wedding related. I think this weekend will be invitation weekend haha.

@Me: Sounds like you have a lot on your holiday to-do list! Enjoy the last few weeks before your wedding. (Congrats, by the way!)
@Cecilia: Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too.

@TinyTina: Thanks. Maybe I should have hired my aunt to do all of our wedding-related paper goods? ;) Good luck with your invitations! I’d love to see how they turn out.

Lovely invitation! Have a great time at the shower. I bought a dress during my visit home for Christmas–success! It’s nice dress shopping during the winter for my winter wedding–I feel like I get a sense of the season!

This Christmas was the first time we met each other’s extended families. His family hosted a wedding shower for us, and my parents held and open house for us. Fun everywhere!
