Miss Doe, Northern California Age and Occupation: 24, Real Estate Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Recycling Manager Engagement Date: December 25, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2012 Venue: Monte Verde Inn About Me: I’m a Rat Pack fan and a Christmas nut that loves to read, good wine, cheesy ’80s movies and ’90s sitcoms. My wiener dog with an attitude problem and lazy basset hound are my constant source of entertainment. He's a hunter and I like cooking so it's not rare to see wild game on our dinner menu. Both of us were born and raised in a small historic farming town where our feet are still firmly planted. We have been together for nearly a decade and have shared many life experiences together, including birthdays that are only one day apart. We are two old souls that are creating our long-awaited wedding with loads of tradition that blends our two styles into rustic elegance in the foothills of Northern California.

Christmastime Is Here

December 23rd, 2011 @ 9:54 am by Miss Doe

Wow, Christmas is this weekend. Ya know, in case you didn’t know. (That’s me, being sarcastic.) I’m quite sure the insanity at the malls and grocery stores have been a constant reminder to you, as well as the incessant jewelry commercials that have graced the TV.

Not only is Christmas on Sunday, but it is also Mr. Buck’s and my one year mark of being engaged. Or in more technical terms, our engageaversary. OK never mind, that’s not technical at all. You get what I mean.

I distinctly remember last Christmas thinking, “wow, we are going to have another whole Christmas before the wedding. This is going to be torture having such a long engagement.” Then BAM, it’s already here again.

I can’t help but think how quickly time moves.

My dad mentioned to me recently that in the amount of time it just took me to blink, that’s how fast the wedding will be here. That could not be more true.

Now there are only five months to go. I feel like my to-do list is getting longer and time is doing the opposite.

A year ago the wedding seemed like a distant vision, something I was having a hard time grasping because it was so far away. Now it is just around the corner, and I can feel and taste the sweet beauty of it.

For those of you who have a long engagement, I assure you that the wedding will be here before you know it. Savor your engagement, and make use of the precious gift of time to do all that you need to do.

To all of you in the Hive who got engaged last Christmas, happy engageaversary to you! :)

Has time seemed to move abnormally fast for you lately? Are you doing anything special to celebrate the day you were engaged? Any other holiday engagements out there?

I felt like not that long ago I was thinking, wow, the wedding is so far away! And our wedding is about 11 months after our engagement. Seems like once it went under the 200 day mark, there was NO TIME left!

Congrats on the engageversary :) Ours is today, the 23rd. It is true that time flies. May 19th is creeping up on me. Enjoy the time of the holidays before the craziness of getting ready hits us. Happy Holidays (and happy planning in January)!

Happy engageaversary!! I seriously CANNOT believe we have less than six months. After 20 months already.. it’s insanely surreal. Time started going “fast” at the one year mark, for me!!
