Nailed It! The Perfect Polish

December 27th, 2011 @ 8:56 am by Mrs. Raccoon

I’ve always been a big fan of nail polishes. I think I began to pay even more attention to my hands and nails after becoming engaged because of all of the grabbing at and requests to see my hand. Engagement rings are shiny, pretty, and kind of a big deal, but I was still surprised by it all.

As we’re approaching our wedding date, I thought I could iron out some of the smaller details like nail polish while avoiding larger and more important things, of course. Standing in the nail care aisle, even at a local chain store, can be a little overwhelming. Looking for a nice pale color? No problem! They only have more options than you knew of colors existed. Nothing was really speaking to me until my eye caught a lonely little bottle of an OPI lacquer called Sweetheart. If it was such a hot item that there was only one left, it was worth giving a shot, right?

I’m happy I did, too! It’s the perfect creamy color I’d dreamed up for myself!

The only other even close contender so far has been Avon’s Pearl Shine. It’s a very pretty barely there polish.

Has anyone else been bad about avoiding some of the more pressing issues? What are some smaller wedding tasks that you’ve been more excited to tackle?

Love the sheer color of both polishes - this is totally something I could start thinking about now. You know, instead of the invites, ceremony, etc. ;)

I love that OPI color! I am going to go with a similar color, although I don’t trust myself to do my own nails without having some chips by wedding day!

Nice choice! I’m just going with a standard french manicure, so one less decision to make! :D

I love that first color, I may pick it up just to have a nice neutral color for my nails.

I love Sweetheart - I can also recommend a few coats of Tickle me Francey for a very sweet rosy hue. It’s my favourite!

@Mrs. Jaguar: That color even sounds great! I kind of nerd out over the names. They’re half of the fun.

@TinyTina: One less decision? Smart!
It depends on which day you catch me. On some, all I want to do is obsess over small choices and then the next I want nothing to do with any.

@Miss Raccoon: I know, right? :D I love all the OPI names in particular. I’m the queen of pale pink polishes, so I have a whole stack of faves if you ever want a few recs! (Also try: Bubble Bath by OPI, or Lady Like by Essie.)

My fave OPI color is Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ. History pun. And I’m going to be a bit bad-ass (in my mind, at least) and rock that color or some other dark maroon on wedding day.
