About Miss Opossum

It’s Official

December 28th, 2011 @ 8:59 am by Miss Opossum

I have officially mailed out our save the dates!

Which means people are actually invited to our wedding. That makes it seem pretty darn real, if you ask me! The process of collecting all the addresses was intensive, but I’m glad it’s finished. Now all I have to do is work on getting the invitations printed out!

I bought some fantastic paper on sale at Michaels. (It was half off!) It’s a nice ivory color with a little bit of texture and sparkle to it. The best part about it is that it makes the print job from my cheapo, crappy printer look very professional. I’m pretty darn pleased with how the invitation suite has turned out! I can’t wait to post it for everyone to see!!

For now I’ll just share my photos of the save the dates (since they’ve finally been mailed out!!!). Please don’t be offended by my cell-phone photos (or our blurred-out names). Normally I would be a good blogger and only share photos from my nice camera, but my camera lens recently broke so it’s out of commission for a little while.

The front of the “postcard style” save the date…

And again the front and the back (modeled after vintage postcards). I think the herb stamps were a pretty cute little addition, too.

I’ve enjoyed the process of making these so much that I want to do it again. Luckily I still have lots of friends who will be getting married in the future…if anyone wants a custom-designed invitation suite just hit me up!

Oooh, they look good! We decided not to send save the dates, although I kind of wish I did. I am working on collecting addresses and yes, that is intense!

They turned out great! Very nice.
Quick question - did they make it ok through the mail? A worker at the post office told me I couldn’t round the corners of my post cards!

I like the postcard style… I know you said you printed it yourself but it looks like the letters are pressed in the paper.

Love these! Can’t wait to see the invitation suite!

Were these done on the Michael’s paper you mention? Did it come in postcard size or did you cut them yourself? Thanks!

Your date is the day before ours, April 7th. Are you finding any problems since your day is 2 days before Easter? I am! And I didn’t even realize it until October and that is too late to change are date! It’s mainly messing with our florist! Very frustrating!

@frugalfiance: I used Photoshop. My design degree has made me a Photoshop fanatic!

@Crabbabs: Hmmm… no one ever mentioned that to me! Minus a mishap here and there most all of my guests received theirs! That is so strange!

@EricaBee: Thanks so much!! :)

@Coffee cup: Ha… I think it’s just the effect on the photo. I WISH is was letter-pressed though! That was a detail I couldn’t afford, unfortunately!

@LaughLines: I used cardstock from Michael’s, and I cut each one out using a paper cutter from work. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would!

@Mrs.Phan-tastic: So far we haven’t had any issues… but I have thought about it! We booked the venue without even realizing it was Easter weekend! Haha. Our date is actually Good Friday so working that out with our officiant is going to be interesting.

And thank you everyone! You’re all so sweet!

I love them! And mailing the STDs was the first “oh crap, this wedding is happening” moment for me.
