If you can’t already tell from the pictures I’ve posted of Mr. O and myself, I am slightly vertically challenged. Mr. O isn’t super tall—he’s only about six-foot-one or so—but that’s still almost a full foot over my five-one (and a half!!!) frame.
This picture was taken at my best friend’s wedding rehearsal. I was wearing some sizable platform wedges, and there is still a significant height difference between the two of us.

I mean, we’re no Shaq and Nicole, but you get the idea…

The first decision I made regarding my hunt for wedding shoes was that I will be wearing TALL heels. No question about it. I want us to be able to put our faces near each other’s in pictures without me having to stand on my tippy-toes. Which…I have been known to do in the past. (The only good thing about this is that it makes Mr. O laugh every time, which makes for cute photos!)
The second decision was a tougher one. I keep seeing pictures like this everywhere, and I love them every time.

The only problem is that we’re having a really casual wedding with a super-neutral palate. The truth is (no matter how much I hate it), some really colorful shoes might not blend with the feel we have going. I still don’t want to be super traditional, so I’m trying to avoid wedding ivory or wedding white, but I’m trying to stay open minded to interesting textures and details. Here is what I’m thinking so far…
I tried these on in a Shoe Station with my mom early on in the planning process and fell in love. Normally I’m not patent’s number-one fan, but something about the way these looked on my feet helped me overlook it. I think the color is good. It’s not plain ole’ ivory—instead it’s got a little kick to it! And did I mention the price was excellent and I think I could wear these again?? Always a huge plus.

These are awesome. I like the color, I like the texture, and I LOVE the flower detail. And even though they are Badgley Mischka, they aren’t THAT expensive. They are more than I would normally pay for a pair of heels, but reasonable for the wedding and, once again, they are something I would easily be able to wear again.

These I’m putting up mainly for the color. They’re by Stuart Weitzman, and quite frankly I just can’t afford them. They cost almost as much as my dress, and for some reason those numbers just don’t sit well in my head together. They are similar to the Jessica Simpson Calie, with more of a coffee color.

These are my dream wedding shoes…and they are what I would consider super traditional. Go figure. They’re tall, they have a fun flower detail, and they can be dyed. These cost about half of what my wedding dress cost, and for some reason I feel like they would be harder to wear again later (maybe I’m crazy?). But can’t you just imagine these in that coffee color from the last shoe? Oh man…just thinking about it gets me all excited!
So what do you think? Which ones are your favorites? And is anyone wearing a pop of color underneath their dress? Do tell so I can live vicariously through you!
