Mrs. Boa Constrictor's Picture
Mrs. Boa Constrictor, Isabela, Puerto Rico Age and Occupation: 22, Undergraduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Soon-to-be Civil Engineer Engagement Date: May 19, 2011 Wedding Date: May 2012 Venue: El Faro Convention Center About Me: I’m a Caribbean gal, born and bred on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, finishing her last year as an undergrad. I describe myself as a “closet nerd” as I secretly enjoy reading research papers, playing video games, and geeking out on Lord of the Rings movie marathons. I will marry my college sweetheart, a soon-to-be civil engineer, who loves Legos and old-school Puerto Rican cooking. This is sure to be a fast-paced year with our wedding, honeymoon, college graduation, new jobs, and a cross-country move all within less than 30 days of each other!
About Mrs. Boa Constrictor

I spent two weeks of my summer vacation visiting Lil Boa (my MOH), who lives in New York City and is an advertising student (she’s the artsy one in the family), to do some sisterly bonding. After a couple of days of staying home while she went out to work, I decided to be productive. My version of productiveness is bridal-gown shopping by myself. I hunted down the nearest bridal shop, which turned out to be Designer Loft. Luckily I could drop in without an appointment that day because they were having an open house. (Thank you, dress gods!)

After arriving, I quickly explained my bridal vision to the attendant, who in turn became very committed to help me achieve it and was so helpful throughout the afternoon. She picked out about eight dresses for me (all Jenny Packham), four of which I deemed decent enough to photograph.

Dress #1. This one was the attendant’s favorite…hence the reason there is a photo of it; I really didn’t like it. It made me feel matronly and old.

Dress #2. I liked how it moved and how light it felt and LOVED the illusion back, but it was too simple for my liking.

Dress #3. This one was everybody’s favorite. All my girlfriends and my sister are obsessed with how I look in this dress. (I do look kind of sexy, right?) Even though I like how tiny it makes my waist and how cute my bum looks in it, I think it looks a little too much like a prom dress and is too sexy for a Catholic wedding.

Dress #4 . This is Mami Boa’s and FMIL Boa’s favorite. I loved the fabric; it felt like a cloud and the dress was super comfy. I was digging the off-the-shoulder look and I loved feeling like a wood nymph…buuut I felt the dress didn’t give me any shape—it just hung on my body.

It was a great wedding-dress-shopping experience, even though I didn’t find the one. The shop was very well organized and the attendants were very helpful.

Which dress do you guys like the best?

The third is my favorite. I went to Designer Loft during their sample sale last month (which was FABULOUS)- the owner and employees are wonderful, very attentive, helpful and I got the impression they genuinely love what they do for a living!

I love love love the third one on you! it looks great – I think you could pull it off for a traditional catholic wedding just add a shaw or bolero for the ceremony!

@daybyday: Thanks, it’s hard to really love a dress but deep down feel it’s not the one.
@Mrs. High Wire: LOL
@totheislnds: Thanks, but it would have to be a pretty big shawl though because it’s tight all over!

3!! I think with something to cover your shoulders it could have been fine for a Catholic wedding, and you look GREAT in it. Can’t wait to see what you picked!

there is no competition with dress 3. It would be so sad if you did not get this.. and I don’t think it’s too sexy for a catholic venue at all. It just looks absolutely stunning. wow.
