Miss Fox's Picture
Miss Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

Informing the Bridal Party

January 12th, 2012 @ 6:41 am by Miss Fox

It was a process, but once Foxy and I finally made the decision on what we wanted our respective bridal party halves to wear, we.. kind of.. stalled. More accurately, I was the one stalling. My ever present indecisiveness needed to be extra, extra, extra sure that was 110% settled on what we wanted folks to wear before getting the word out. Once November rolled around and the save the dates were sent and I realized I still hadn’t formally clued anyone in, I realized it was probably time to: 1. let everyone know what we want for ensembles, and 2. remind everyone they actually are in our wedding, seeing as we’ve been pretty hands off up to this point. Reminders are good, yes? ;)

A nice email would have been fine, but I had this itch to amp it up and make it an email with an attachment. Ooooh.

For the ladies:

And for the men:

Informing the Bridal Party : wedding bridesmaid dress havre de grace menswear Groomsm Groomsm

I also created a third attachment with basic information about the rehearsal dinner, accommodations, etc, and sent everything out in one massive email so people could see who everyone else is and what they will be sporting down the aisle.

We are now just short of 5 months out and as far as I know, no one has ordered anything yet…which makes sense, seeing as I asked them to get stuff ordered by late January/early February. I just hope they all have better luck getting everything than Foxy and I have had (see: dress, rings)! Speaking of which, we should really order Foxy’s suit…

How did you spread the word about wedding party ensembles? About how far out did people end up purchasing?

Brilliant! For the girls, how did you compile the photos of the dresses?

@CurlyRN: I did it through the style board on Dessy.com - you can use their images/dresses (which is what I did) or upload your own! It’s a super easy way to make inspiration boards, too!

This is a fantastic idea and a great way to corral a larger wedding party that is all over the place. Great thinking; I’m definitely going to borrow this. ;)

I sooo wish I had done this. Instead, I told the girls I wouldn’t make them buy something expensive, and then proceeded to search the internet for wedding appropriate yellow dresses only to discover they don’t exist outside of “real” bridesmaid dresses. So now I’m in a pickle…

Great idea! I’ve informed all of my BM’s, but Mr. Hawk is slacking! I might end up pulling something like this together of him.

Look at you go with your information, I love your approach! Umm so one BM just got her dress this week…and the shirts for the guys are still on thier way. I panicked plenty of times but it’s all coming together (it did cost and extra $50 for express shipping on the guys shirts though, doop!) Our men will look very similar, good taste!

I did this same thing, and I would just make sure you’re checking in with your bridesmaids. I went even further and sent them photos and a list of all the dresses they could choose from (had to be Bill Levkoff in European Satin, European Horizon Color, and short). Some girls looked at the photos and just picked one. Some girls went to the store and picked a dress in the wrong fabric (Levkoff also makes a “Diva satin” which doesn’t come in my color) =/

I am having them all pick a dress first, and let me know what they pick before they buy it, so we don’t end up with, say, three girls in one dress and one in a different one. If you can go out shopping with them, I’d try to do that!

Oh, an additional note: I wouldn’t worry too much about ordering–they will probably put it off until the last minute, haha ;) I would just check in with them the week before your “last week” to order and remind those who haven’t yet.

That’s a good idea. I just sent them links to what I wanted. Not very helpful, lolz.

Ooh, thanks for posting this. Your route of mismatched styles but same color/fabric is the way I’m looking to go too. Do you mind posting what the price range of Dessy dresses is?

@Miss Unicycle: Not all bridesmaid dresses are super expensive! Some of the Dessy lines are in the $150 range (which I know is still pricey..) and I know another line that a bit less but can’t for the life of me remember what it is. So I’m no help. :(
@Miss Honey: Oh geez. Really hope we don’t have a last minute situation, but I’m happy to hear yours worked out in the end!
@Alleycat: I’m definitely trying to keep in touch with them as much as possible without seeming too annoying. ;) I really wish I could go shopping with each one, but alas, distance makes that hard!
@dustywrath: PM’d you! They vary from about $150-$300ish.

Have the groomsmen purchased their suits yet? Just wondering how studio suits worked and what the quality was like? The prices seem too good! Thanks

@meaghanc2: As far as I know, no one has ordered yet. Mrs. Meerkat purchased from them and does a brief overview of the Mr.’s suit here: http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/09/21/menswear-suits-and-accessories/. Once we get Foxy’s, I’ll be sure to post about it!
