It was almost time for all the formalities to be over…it was time for our first dance! About a week before the wedding, Mr Teaspoon realised that whilst he could carry a rhythm and get by with a dance, I honestly could not. Actually, I was woeful… I couldn’t even follow along while he led. I blame going to an all-girls’ school. So, we had a lesson and I was able to learn a lot in 45 minutes. Well, let’s be honest, enough to allow us to get through our two-and-a-half minutes before our bridal party and parents joined us on the dance floor!
Our first dance was to You & Me by Dave Matthews Band, which, like all DMB songs, is about 25 minutes long. So our bridal party and parents joined us for the last part of the song.
Then we switched up partners and I danced with my dad and Mr Teaspoon danced with his mum:
Then it was dance time! Unfortunately the people who did take pictures of this point either had them deleted from their cameras, lost their cameras, or they were so drunk that the photos are mainly of the floor—not cool. So all I have is these few of the bouquet toss.
My little brother’s girlfriend caught the bouquet! Well, actually it was more a case of “no one caught it and she was the first one to grab it off the ground.” My parents proceeded to lead a lovely rendition of Going to the Chapel which resulted in my little bro grabbing the microphone and leading the singing!
Uh, oh… is that the end of the party?? Well, it was for us…we headed out through a tunnel of our friends…I have never been smacked on the a*& so many times! When we got outside, we waited to say goodbye to our parents.
Then it was off to the hotel for the newlyweds… but our guests had a good time after we left!
Groomsman and little brother in law took to the microphone to belt out a few tunes!
All these photos show our guests having a great time…actually, it makes me a little sad that we left so early!
Do you plan to make a grand exit and leave before the party officially ends, or will you stay until the last minute?
I stayed until the very.last.minute… well with my parents (who then may or may not have dropped us off at the after party– hey it was only 1:30am!)
I am so proud of you for leaving – I just don’t think I can do it. I so want a grande exit but… I want to hang out as long as possible. Can’t have both – Oh well. I’ll just hang.
I’ll be staying until the bitter end. Mostly because the friends who will be at my wedding will be traveling from all over the world (Ok, possibly Hawaii, Japan, and Minnesota) and I want to spend as much time as possible with them. Plus it’s very likely that I’ll be moving soon after and want to stay for the same reasons.
So sweet! You and Me is one of our top contenders for first dance as well!

We stayed until the very last minute (and then some), but I think leaving early is such a romantic gesture

We plan to leave before everyone else. Were big introverts and will probably be exhausted mentally and physically. We never stay to the last minute at parties unless they’re held at our place. Plus, I dont want to be there when the staff starts cleaning up.
@Jenny: It’s also nice for those guests who are tired/elderly/pregnant – many don’t want to leave before the bride and groom!
