All Tied Up!

January 19th, 2012 @ 2:52 pm by Mrs. Dalmatian

I have shared with you what my lovely ladies will be sporting, but what about the handsome gentlemen standing on the other side of the aisle? It didn’t take us much time or discussion to decide that they will be looking dashing in black tuxes, white shirts, and some sort of tie. But what sort of tie? That was the question.

I started here (hint: this will not be the last you will hear about my love for Liberty of London):

This floral tie was quickly dismissed by Mr. Dalmatian.

I didn’t put up much of a fight—even I had to admit that it wasn’t exactly the most masculine tie out there, and I understood that he wanted his best guy friends to wear something a little more classic and a little less floral.

Then, we decided to embrace the country charm that is so irresistible to me and bring in some gingham. My new motto for the wedding: When in doubt, go with gingham!

Mama Dalmatian and I both started keeping our eyes peeled. I did this by getting easily distracted searching ties online when I should have been doing something productive, and Mama Dalmatian did this by taking a swing through the tie section whenever she was in Nordstrom.

One day, she came across this next contender (sorry for the not-so-quality photo):

I must say, it really is a nice looking tie! Both Mr. Dalmatian and I liked it a lot…but even though it was gingham, it was such a subtle gingham I was worried that some of the impact would be lost.

So I went back online. But instead of aimlessly and endlessly browsing, I went straight to my top pick from those I had bookmarked and purchased four! It was on Amazon, so I knew that returns would be easy if necessary and I figured what the heck, maybe we would like them and then I could check this task off the list. And guess what…

We love them! The color is a touch more lime green than I originally had in mind, but it is not overwhelming at all. They are also silk ties, so they feel nice and despite their somewhat casual pattern they will still go with the boys’ tuxes.

I couldn’t find a great inspiration pic of the outcome, but here is a little preview thanks to the handy-dandy tool on The Tie Bar website:

I love that floral tie, haha. Its so cute. It would look awesome with a grey suit.

Our bridesmen will just have black bow ties and tuxes. But I really want that floral tie now! Lol.

Snazzy get-up. Can you imagine a sundress made from the same fabric as that floral tie? Positively dreamy.

I love your ties! I was really tie-obsessed for awhile too. I searched online a LOT! Then I found them for a steal off-season from Kohle’s for like $12 each. They are green and preppy and striped. Your boys will look dashing!

I love the gingham one too! Mr. Mole just ordered one from JCrew to wear for our “rehearsal” dinner.
