Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!
About Miss Fox

I Like ’em Long

January 27th, 2012 @ 11:16 am by Miss Fox

Earrings, that is. I like long earrings. Don’t be gross.

I’ve seen a lot of pictures and articles lately about big statement necklaces to go with wedding day ensembles (like Miss Opossum’s!), but not so much about big statement earrings to go with your look. And I? I’m a total hussy for huge, big, statement earrings, a la Lady Duff here.

They’re classy, fun, bold; the perfect accessory, if you ask me. And nine times out of ten, you’ll find me sporting some version of big ear bling myself.

(Prepare for several gratuitous photos of yours truly, mostly because I don’t feel like laying out my earrings and taking pictures of them. And because earrings look better, you know, in ears.)

I have a bunch more, of course, but I’m pretty sure you get the idea. I wear them so much that people associate me with my ear bling, which I’m totally OK with and absolutely love. So much so that I feel like I must represent my earring passion on our wedding day!

I’ll admit that Foxy Mama isn’t the biggest fan of this idea - I think she’s more in the camp of a simple necklace and simple earrings. But where’s the fun in that? I say, skip the necklace and bring on the big, long, hopefully sparkly earrings. Seeing as my dress is strapless with just a touch of bling on the front, I think a nice pair of shoulder duster earrings would go just perfectly. Now I just need to find them…and that is presenting itself to be a challenge. So far, the following have stood out the most in my eyes:

I feel like I really want a nice mix of all three of these—as in, classy but colorful—but alas, I have not been able to find that yet. While they all definitely have the length, I’m not sure they have the style I’m going for. I’m not even exactly sure what I want, but I’m hoping for that “I’ll know it when I see it” moment. Le sigh.

Any other earring lovers out there with suggestions of where to look? If not earrings, what’s your favorite wedding day accessory?

I love earrings too! I rarely wear necklaces or bracelets but feel naked without earrings.

1928 has awesome costume jewelry if you’re into that. I also find lots of pretty earrings online at Kohl’s. Little boutiques tend to have good selections too. Can’t wait to see what you go with!

you should totally rock those on your wedding day! especially if you’re known for ear bling. I’m going to wear a statement necklace, and pretty much no one thinks that’s a good idea, but I’m doing it anyway!

I’m going to visit these beauties in the store today, and if they are long enough, I’m going for it! Finally, hoarding my gift cards is going to pay off…

@KYbride86: Haven’t heard of 1928 - will need to look into that! I honestly get most of mine from H&M - they always have the funnest styles there!
@Miss Unicycle: You’re dress is perfect for a big statement necklace! I think If mine was a bit plainer on front, I would consider going that route. Although I am pretty stoked about the ear bling!
@Miss Petit Four: Haha I do! Thanks!
@mkim: A-men. Really hope I can find a pair I love!
@mertlej: I was eying those last night! Definitely a statement - wish you luck!

I’m a lover of big earrings too! That first pair is amazzing. Had I not found a bold necklace I would have gone the bold earring route :)

I love those last ones, but I totally understand the need to see exactly what you have in mind before you commit. Hopefully you’ll find a pair of long ones soon :)

I am totally doing the “big blingy earrings and no necklace” look. It’s a huge issue of mine when I am watching all these wedding shows on tv - girls who wears every single piece of jewelry they own on their wedding day! A big necklace, big earrings, a big bracelet, and a tiara/headband is just too much I think. I say go for the earrings and skip the necklace.

You are one brave woman, Miss Foxy! I am terrified of long earrings - my cousin actually ripped my aunt’s earlobe by pulling on her long earring when she was a baby, and I’ve always been petrified that’ll happen to me. They look so stunning, though, and I can’t wait to see what you decide to rock at your wedding!

I love the 2nd ones! But I don’t think I can pull the long earring look off…good for you. I found some awesome earrings in an antique store. Now i have to keep looking to find matches for the rest of my look

I went the BIG FANCY earing route as well…and skipped the necklace! I had the most luck at Macy’s!

Good luck in your search!

Here’s another jewelry suggestion: http://perfectdetails.com/Sorrelli-Earrings.htm

Vintage-inspired, if that’s what you are going for. I’m totally in love with some, and just have to schlep over the money.
