Our Rehearsal”¦Err, Graduation Dinner!

On the eve of our wedding, Mr. Dalmatian’s very generous parents have offered to host a dinner. Many people would call this a rehearsal dinner, and I admit that most of the time I take the easy route and do this too. But technically, we are not having our rehearsal until the day of the wedding. This sounded scary to me at first, but the lovely ladies at our venue have assured me that it will go smoothly (and quickly), and given the number of weddings they have successfully pumped out I have decided to take a chill pill and believe them. So when we arrive at Cedarwood, everyone involved (minus Mr. D) will run through the ceremony. Then, as I am sliding into my gown (Eek! So excited!), they will take Mr. Dalmatian and run through what he is supposed to do.

ANYWAY, back to the not-really-a-rehearsal dinner. While we will not be rehearsing the day before our wedding, we will be doing something very exciting”¦ attending Mr. Dalmatian’s business school graduation!

So where will we be celebrating? To answer that, let me tell you a little back story:

When Mr. D and I graduated from our undergraduate programs at Vanderbilt, his parents planned a dinner for our families at Big River, a restaurant here in Nashville. Big River is a great place because they have delicious food, a fun casual atmosphere, and are located right in the midst of the downtown honky-tonk scene. Unfortunately, mother nature decided she did not want us to enjoy these perks during that weekend.

That’s right, there was a flood. A serious flood that left a few feet of standing water between us and our dining plans (this is NOT a complaint – we consider ourselves very lucky that the only thing we lost in the flood was a dinner reservation and realize that many people lost much more). That being said, we are very excited that the day before our wedding there will be a second graduation, and a second chance at a Big River celebration!

I can’t wait for our whatever-you-want-to-call-it, big-day, day-before-an-even-bigger-day, not-a-rehearsal, graduation dinner!

When are you rehearsing?

Do you have any other big events happening on during your wedding weekend?

I am a Nashville bride, too! Cedarwood is AMAZING — wish it was in our budget!

And my sweetie and I actually went to Big River on our first date! Then to Tootsie’s for drinks and live music. We are having our engagement party there! Great choice!

Off topic–I love you venue choice! I live nowhere near it, but photos from its galleries have long been on my pinterest board :)

Glad you’ll get a second try at Big River! I didn’t get a chance to visit there when I was in Nashville, but love the area it’s in.

Haha, you’re so cute, Miss D! You’ll have fun celebrating at whatever that dinner is. And a day of rehearsal can be perfect. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and move things around. Like my aunt and uncle had to have their rehearsal a few days before their wedding because they were getting married on Easter Saturday and therefore couldn’t rehearse on Good Friday (almost typed Black Friday there – whoops!), and everything worked out perfectly!
