Mrs. Castle's Picture
Mrs. Castle, NYC/Southern California Age and Occupation: 26, Actress/Babysitter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Actor/Writer/Graphic Designer Engagement Date: January 1, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2012 Venue: Padua Hills Theater About Me: I am a Southern California girl living in the Big Apple. I moved here to put my degree in Musical Theater to work! My survival job is caregiver to an adorable 2 1/2 year old. When I'm not working, auditioning or rehearsing, I am hanging out at home with my FI and our two beloved cats. I love to read, sing, dance, hang with friends, and spend quality time with Mr. Castle watching our favorite TV shows (LOST, Big Bang Theory, and Mythbusters...to name a few). Mr Castle and I met while performing in college, so it is only fitting that our wedding take place at an old theater. We are planning a vintage, theater-inspired wedding with some DIY projects and plenty of personal touches thrown in. I love living in the city but I am excited to marry my man in the state where we fell in love.
About Mrs. Castle

One thing I had decided long before getting engaged was what our wedding color would be…

ORANGE!

I am so in love with the color orange. I love to wear orange, paint my nails orange, decorate my home with orange, the list goes on and on. When coloring with the little boy I watch, he always gives me the orange crayon because he knows it’s my favorite. When I was 16 I painted my bedroom bright orange. I’m pretty sure the name of the paint was “pumpkin” or “Halloween.” It was awesome. The bright color makes me so happy. When people ask, “What are your wedding colors?” and I say “orange,” the response is usually, “Orange!?! That’s interesting…why orange??” Because its my favorite color, that’s why!

I did think that we needed a secondary color as well. I didn’t want our wedding to look too Halloweenish…so I thought, well, what looks good with orange?

My first thought was maybe a purple and orange?

They look good together. I was even considering having my bridesmaids wear purple dresses and hold orange flowers. I knew my girls would probably be happier wearing purple than orange. But after pondering this for a couple weeks I decided purple was not “me.” I felt it would take away from the orange, which was supposed to be the “star” color. And I always imagined the girls wearing orange dresses, so I decided to stick with my gut.

Our next thought was:

GREEN

I think it looks pretty good with orange. After considering this option I saw this picture on a friend’s Facebook page, and it really helped finalize the decision in my mind.

Another reason I’m loving the idea of incorporating some green here and there is because, before I fell in love with orange, I always thought my wedding would be green. Green is my mother’s favorite color, but when she got married in the ’80s it was not an option for her wedding color. She ended up having to go with pink and she is soooo not a pink person. I always thought, I’m going to have a green wedding for my mom. So our color scheme fits both of the things I said I wanted long before ever getting engaged. Another cute and fun fact: when Mr. Castle and I met his car was orange and mine was green. :) It was meant to be…

What are your colors? Did you have them picked before even becoming engaged like I did?

I <3 green and orange together. I think the green actually makes the orange pop, like you said the orange could easily look like a supporting role to the purple. I personally am not orange or green (like you are to purple) and neither is FI. I did try and talk my sister into this scheme for her wedding a few years ago because I think they lookin amazing together. Tons of great inspiration out there for it.

I love the orange are green. Maybe it’s just me, but i think orange and purple look too Halloween-y. I am going with copper and green. It’s funny, no matter how many times I say copper, people just assume orange.

When I first saw the green + orange, I wasn’t sure what to think, but that tulip picture is a definite winner. Your wedding is going to turn out so lovely, I’m sure!

How sweet that you are doing the green for your mom! Before we got engaged, I was imagining a fall wedding for myself with green, purple and orange as the colors!

I love that picture from your friend’s Facebook, so pretty! Orange and green go amazingly well together, where I personally see orange and purple as very prominent Halloween colors.

Love that your car colors ended up being your wedding colors :-)

Green and that blood orange in the picture definitely go well together!!
Our colors are purple and gold. Both my future husband and I went to LSU so it was a no brainer seeing as how my favorite color is purple and we are both LSU fanatics!!

I totally painted my room that exact orange and purple when I was in grade school, and kept it that way until I moved out after college! I had all orange walls, with purple trim and stripes, it was so cool! haha… My mom was not happy having to deal with painting over it after I moved out though :D

I love the orange and green combo as well!

Love it! We did a bold orange like yours for our wedding with a light blue, but green was one of the runner up colors for us, too!

Orange is my favorite too! And I had the same thought process, orange as a wedding color, hmmmm, what shall people think. I ended up going with Orange and green, with hints for yellow as well to make it less like ORANGE and green…. more springy/summery. Our wedding is 6/2/12. Glad you went with your favorite color too.

I love your choice and also the picture of the blood orange tulips! I’m a fan of orange and purple together as well as orange and cranberry and am caught between the two color schemes.

We’re having an October wedding and would like to incorporate some pink in honor of breast cancer awareness (FMIL lost her battle in 2010 & my Mother is a survivor) while still keeping it about us.

I know we have plenty of time but I wanted to discuss flowers with my MOH yesterday and was told not to drive myself crazy about flowers until they have their dresses which was frustrating because I just wanted to bounce ideas off of her = (
