I am a little dog obsessed. Okay okay, that is not an entirely accurate statement… I am a lot dog obsessed. I did choose to be Miss Dalmatian after all! You may recall when I introduced you to the two most important pups in my life. Bailey lives up in Chicago with my parents and is my family’s dog, so while I love her infinitely, she will not be included in the wedding festivities. Echo, on the other hand, lives here in Nashville and belongs to Mr. Dalmatian and me. He is a huge part of our life as a couple (I don’t know what we would do all day if we couldn’t sit around and admire his cuteness). So I knew from the beginning I wanted him to somehow be involved in this crazy process of getting married.

Like Miss Woodpecker’s pooch, Echo is a rescue dog. However, instead of large and energetic, Echo is very wee (he tips the scales at 9lbs) and very timid. When we first got him, he was terrified of absolutely everything. In the last year and half he has come a very long way, but he still feels much safer around us that he does around strangers, especially big groups of strangers. So as much as I crave pictures like this, bringing him to the wedding where he would have to be handled by a stranger and surrounded by many unfamiliar faces did not seem like the best idea.

For us, the answer was pretty clear: engagement pictures! This is a great option for us because: 1) There will only be a couple of strangers present (the photographers) and Mr. Dalmatian and I will be right there so hopefully he will feel safe and free to show off his adorable self. 2) Given his tiny frame, he is very easily transportable and maintainable—we will bring along his kennel where he will happily reside while we snap a few photos on our own. 3) I have already mentioned how in love with our photographer, Lotus Blossom Photography, I am—well here is the icing on the cake—along with weddings, they also specialize in DOG PHOTOGRAPHY! Cue squeals of delight.

I mean seriously? Too adorable. I trust that they will do an excellent job capturing the essence of Echo!
