The Minks Get Fancy

Every bee seems to post a big invitation reveal close to their wedding day. We’ve had our invitations for a while, so it’s been hard keeping them out of my blog posts. I won’t break tradition, but I thought I’d share our envelopes now since they arrived just a few days ago.

While I really liked the calligraphy that was on our save the date cards, it was a little modern. I decided to look for someone whose work might be a little more ornate for our invitations. I pored over blogs, Facebook pages, and websites. There are so many beautiful styles of calligraphy out there and many calligraphers command some pretty steep prices for their work. Calligraphy is an art, so I understand the cost.

When I found Elizabeth Bartucci of Tuccicursive (I believe that’s pronounced like the last part of her last name + cursive), I was almost afraid to ask for a quote because her work was so beautiful. The quote was startlingly modest. I couldn’t ship our envelopes quickly enough! About a week later, the package was back on my doorstep. I thought to have Liz address one envelope just for Weddingbee so I didn’t have to block out any of her beautiful letters…

Aren’t they pretty? You might recognize the envelope to the left of the Weddingbee one. That one has already been sent to the White House in hopes that we get one of those congratulatory cards that they sometimes send.

By the way, Liz posted on her Facebook page that her work is going to be in the March issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. Isn’t that exciting?!?

I’m curious about the wait to receive a response from the White House. Did you send the President an invitation? How many months did it take to get something back, if you got anything at all?

    @Mrs. Bacon: I’m kind of in awe of Liz. She’s awesome!

    @Miss Doily: I’ve seen people report a 3 month wait and others report a 10 month wait. Some didn’t hear back at all, it seems. Crossing my fingers for something in 3 months!

    @Mrs. Trail Mix: Hee hee.

    Looks beautiful! Can’t wait to hear if you get something back from the President. I have a few “extra” invites I’m thinking about sending…have to get through the guest list first, though.

    @Mrs. Pony: I normally to TOO much research, but I agree. It paid off here!

    @Miss Turkey: I considered some of the others (okay, just one other one), but it was going to be sent abroad and I didn’t think there was time.

    @Miss Porcupine: I tried to teach myself…that didn’t get well at all!

    @Future Army Wife: I’d buy it, too!

    @Mrs. Hamster: :)

    @Miss Coyote: *happy dance* She’s really good, isn’t she?

    @Mrs. Brooch: Hee hee. I have to admit that I started the envelopes for a while!

    BTW, someone wanted her email address. It’s tuccicursive {at} gmail {dot} com.

    Oh my gosh – I want to send one to the President! I just told my fiance and he is up for it.
    He once invited Chelsea Clinton to his house party while she was already in the area and the secret service showed up at his work (Army) to check out the authenticity.
    Oh my man has a story for everything. Silly Boy.

    @Miss Ke Aloha: Oh and they invited him to a party she was having.. He declined because it was the same time as his party. LOL

    Hahaha, I was totally planning on inviting the First Couple, but my invites don’t go out for another few weeks.

    I so have invite addressing envy right now. They look great.

    @Miss Ke Aloha: Ba ha ha! We used to have a first daughter as a neighbor…never thought to invite her to anything, but we felt extra safe with the security detail outside 24/7. :)

    @chicagogirl6: Oooh…3 months. I hope we have the same luck!

    @knvprincess143: Ours aren’t out yet, either…I just sent the White House one because I was worried about timing!

    @melissa: Nope. Our invitations are less formal and it felt like a really easy way to reduce a little bit of the consumption involved with our wedding. We don’t change the world by not having inner envelopes, but little choices add up.

    @k8e: A one month turn around? That’s awesome!!!
