Guess we should chat about attire…

In case you are wondering, I am wearing a dress and Sweetie Scone is going for a pantsuit. Let’s talk about my dress inspiration.

My mom used to make custom wedding dresses, and she made/designed a dress for one of my sisters.

Here is a sample of her work:

We kicked off wedding planning with the idea that she would be making my duds. So I started to check out inspiration. These were a few of my absolute favorites!

Basically I was looking for an A-line dress with straps made out of silk, cotton, or linen for breathability in the Midwestern summer. I am not a petite little butterfly and my “girls” don’t do strapless well. (I become a cranky monster.) So with that info we tracked down bridal salons that might have these beauties to try them on and make sure the styles looked good on my body…

That Paloma was one of my favorites too! Never did get to try it on though…

They are all pretty dresses. I’m thinking the Paloma dress may emphasize a larger bust though? I love dresses one and two. My favorite being dress two with the crossover bodice. It’s really elegant. I too look forward to seeing your choice on you. How special to have your Mom make your dress!

Oooh, I love that Lindsey dress. My make-believe wedding dress actually always had wide straps like that!

I really think that last style would look good on you! The bust part is so pretty.

Lol, I don’t do strapless either, my mom gave me a pair of girls that need some support and my grandma gave me broad shoulders that don’t look nice without something covering them.

@Mrs. Funnel Cake: I still love the Lindsey and they stopped making her!!!!!
@redheadartgirl: It is pretty great (although as an 8 year old I was a little upset my clothes were mostly made by my mom)
@Coffee cup: I seriously would like to send a non-love letter to the bridal industry that every bride does not want a strapless (or straps that in no way can conceal a bra)…Note to self start my non-love letter
