My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
The cake had been cut, the bouquet had been tossed, and it was now time to share our wedding slideshow.
*A Word About Slideshows*
I know that slideshows are divisive: people seem to either love them or hate them. I’m firmly in the “love them” camp (then again, I also love Christmas letters, so are you really surprised?). I have no talent at making slideshows, but my good friend Dan (who was also a reader in our ceremony) is super good at making them. In fact, one of the first times I ever hung out with Dan, he showed me a slideshow he created about his college experience at UVA and I cried. I cried even though I’d never met any of the people in the slideshow and I had only known Dan for 2 weeks. So when it was time to make our slideshow, I knew who to call.
Dan did a fantastic job with our wedding slideshow, which you can watch by clicking below. It’s about 10 minutes long and probably won’t mean much to you if you don’t know us, but you might enjoy it. If nothing else, there’s a lovely assortment of music, including Ben Folds, Kings of Leon, the Decembrists, Big Star and Regina Spektor.
Clearly enjoying our slideshow - and my cake. (Guest photo by A. Barsan.)
With the slideshow, all of the wedding traditions were complete and it was back to dancing for the next hour or so until the night was over. We made the most of that last hour!

Before we knew it, it was 11 pm and the reception was over. And now for the not-so-glamorous-but-totally-honest-part: the shuttles we pre-ordered through our hotel were late, so my parents drove us back to the hotel while our guests waited for almost an hour. Which kind of killed the after party. We did end up drinking with a few close friends after all was said and done, but the after party was officially killed by the shuttle delays. Add to that the fact that it was Labor Day weekend and there were 3 other wedding blocks at the hotel, so the bar area was overrun with other people. The important parts of the day were perfect so I can’t really complain, but I didn’t want to give off the impression that nothing went wrong. The next morning, we had a laid-back brunch with our OOT guests at the hotel and then spent the day unwrapping gifts, packing for our honeymoon and relaxing. A day later, we took off on our 10-day honeymoon to Moorea and Bora Bora! (You can read my honeymoon recaps here, here, and here.)
