Mrs. Bacon, Chicago Age and Occupation: 26, Digital Advertising Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, IT Client Services Engagement Date: June 17, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Ravenswood Billboard Factory About Me: I'm a Midwestern girl that can't seem to commit to staying in one place for too long and is constantly daydreaming about my next adventure. I am an aspiring foodie with a weak spot for the unusual and I love semi-reality food television. My other loves easily include laughing as a form of exercise, a book that I can't put down, summer baseball games, espresso with whipped cream, couch potato days and nights with the ridiculous Mr. Bacon, and our two kitties, Lincoln and Sawyer. We're planning a faux-destination wedding for 150 of our closest friends and family in the city we've both adopted as home that has a modern, yet whimsical twist and as many personal touches as we can manage.
About Mrs. Bacon

Back when we first moved to Chicago, the Baconator had a single approach to baseball: he’d support any team other than those big two out East. I decided that as a gal who loves baseball, that I wasn’t going to support his negative attitude so I made him pick a team. As a local guy from the great state of Illinois, he picked the Cubs, so four years later we had to take photos in front of his favorite team’s home: Wrigley Field! Luckily for us, the field was on the way to our venue and I love this old stadium, so I was happy to oblige… now, if only I had thought to ask them to congratulate us on that big screen out front…

As we were wrapping up and about to get back on the trolley, we saw a trio of pooches turn the corner and we couldn’t help ourselves—fancy outfits or not, we were going to get some puppy love on! BM Alice has been an avid pitbull lover since rescuing her baby, Bowie, three years ago, so she pretty much ran to the dogs the minute they rounded the corner (Can you guess who she is from her excitement?). After about 10 minutes of sloppy dog kisses and lots of petting, we got back on to the trolley, but not before she grabbed the business card of the pooch owners. I’m so glad she did, too, since they are the fabulous writers of Two Pitties in the City which is a blog about owning a pair of pitbulls in the city, the fosters that they regularly take in, and the pure joy that comes from having a pitbull in your life. Ever since we got back from the honeymoon, I’ve been a regular reader and I can’t wait until we get our own pitbull this spring so that I can start attending their monthly “SociaBulls” outings!

Did you bring your pets or run into someone else’s pet on your big day? Would you risk paw prints on your wedding dress for a little puppy love?

These pics are awesome. I have been looking at all of your wedding pics and they are all beautiful. I have a question though. With all the pictures you have taken, they seem to have taken a lot of time. How much time did you give yourself after the ceremony to take pictures? Did your guests have a long wait in between ceremony and reception?

Ah! This is so awesome! Pit bull rescue is a cause VERY dear to my heart, and I love that you’ve featured them in your recaps AND are planning on adopting!!! I literally can not think of a more awesome surprise on my wedding day than running into a couple of pit bull pups on the street. Love it!!

Your wedding is beautiful and I love reading the recaps! I do want to give a word of warning. My fiance is a Financial Representative and he has told me that if you get a pitbull/rotweiller/wolf or anyother “agressive” dog (even a mix), you won’t be able to get home insurance which in turn means you can’t get a mortgage. Before you adopt make sure you do research into this part of it, especially if you hope to own a home in the future. The loophole is that you can get the dog after you have the mortgage.

OMG! LOVE “Two Pitties in the City”, that’s my kind of celebrity cameo in a wedding-day photo shoot :D

RE: insurance and pit bull types - nationally, State Farm doesn’t ban any specific breeds in their homeowner/renter policies, and many other local companies are non-discriminatory as well. It just takes a little research!

I follow that blog. As soon as I saw the collar, and read your location, it made me smile! Congrats on your beautiful wedding and support for pit bulls. My little pittie will be an attendant in my wedding next month! I also own my own home and have home owner’s insurance. It’s a shame that people still misunderstand the breed.

Cute!! We did our engagement photos at the Rogers Centre which is where the Toronto Blue Jays play (we’re from Toronto). Our photographer got us tickets to the game and we look photos both outside and in while they were playing… super cute! Also, we have a pitbull cross (who sadly, could not come to the game for our photos haha). My fiance will love this post! Unfortunately in ontario pitbulls are banned, so we can’t get another. Ours is a cross and looks more like a boxer (and the breeder called him a bulldog mix) so we’ve gotten around it so far, but you aren’t allowed to buy/adopt pitties anymore :(

@FutureMrsSpencer: We spent about 2 hours before the ceremony taking photos. I wanted to avoid a long wait between the ceremony and reception, so we got them out of the way early.
@mizmaz: I was so heartbroken when I learned that the little black and white one found his forever home before we were ready for a dog!
@KS: I’m pretty much obsessed with Two Pitties! Thanks for the heads up that State Farm is down with Pitbulls :)
@Riggsy74: I love that your pittie will be in your wedding! Your pictures will be so adorbs!
@zippitydoodah: I love when couples take photos at the games! They always have such a great energy!
@Future Army Wife: LOL I know! Everything from chiropractors to airlines. Nothing says Love like Physical Therapy!
