Wedding Blinders

At this point in my planning, I have a really good sense of the look, theme, and feel of the wedding. All of the vendors have been booked, and I find myself fully focusing on the minor details and attempting to tackle my project list, a list that I am desperately trying to shorten and not expand. With Pinterest,, and the plethora of pretty inspiration blogs out there, I’ve found myself putting on my wedding blinders out of self preservation.

Honestly, I used to love my time spent on those sites, aimlessly pinning and hearting any inspiration or DIY that I thought I could work into our wedding. Now I am fiercely blocking myself from visiting them and searching for anything that might add more tasks to my to-do list. Looking back to where I was even 30-60 days ago, I feel like I am in a completely different place.

Anyone else out there struggling to wear blinders from new inspiration? Or do you love discovering new ideas, even close to the end of your wedding planning?

It sounds like you have a really good idea of where you are, how you can best take care of yourself AND your to-do list to come out with a fabulous wedding. At the end of it you need to be ready to celebrate, not fried from too many all-nighters doing this or that DIY project. Good for you for knowing when to set some boundaries! (I think I *should* do this too when I get closer… here’s hoping I’ll remember this post and actually do it!)

I am the same way! I used to visit all those sites on a daily basis but now I don’t even look. I don’t need any more projects or ideas right now! And I really don’t want to see something and think why didn’t we think of that? And now it’s to late! So I’m with you blinders up, and it’s a good thing.

Good for you! I was definitely guilty of adding several last minute projects due to those lovely inspiration sites, not my best decision :)

I had to pretty much avoid all wedding and design blogs for the last few months leading up to our wedding–it was tough not to look but very worth it!

Ummm yeah except I am not resisting so well! My coordinator just told me to get the blinders on 😉

I’m already kinda staying away and I have a while to go yet! I’m trying to only look at things that we haven’t done yet, like menus and invitations and groomsmen looks.

Hehehe, I am still pinning and hearting things all over the place. I’m not ready to put up the blinders just yet! (Although I probably should…;))

What I’m quickly figuring out with a long engagement is how you want to take on every single thing that looks good on Pinterest and on this site. I need to start putting blinders on or the next 14 months are going to be insane. I guess it’s time to find a new hobby.

Have you found a replacement for Pinterest? I think I may need a Pintervention :)

I remember the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings came out 2 months before my wedding and I had to resist the temptation every waking minute to buy and consume it! Good for you with your impressive self restraint, lady!

Totally understand this feeling! I haven’t been on Pinterest in weeks for that exact reason!

Foxy has officially banned me from adding anymore DIY projects to the list, most of which I find on the sites you mentioned. 😉 But.. I still like perusing. Pinterest is really my downfall.. it’s hard to stay away!!
