Inspiration Station

March 9th, 2012 @ 10:17 am by Mrs. Dragon

Welcome to my backward world, where I make an inspiration board after deciding on a lot of things already. It’s far easier to make a collage of pretty pictures when you know for sure that some of them will actually be close to the real thing!

I know most brides make these mini-galleries so they have something to refer to when making plans but, honestly, all of the little details kind of overwhelm me so I had to have an idea of what our vision was before I put it all together. I guess, in that sense, this board isn’t serving to remind me what I want; rather, it’s serving to show me that it all actually makes sense together.

So—organized folksy, as Mom Dragon said. We’ve got our tent, the bunting, the fall sunflowers and dahlias, an outdoor ceremony (knock on wood), glittery lights, mismatched bridesmaids, a less formal groomsman look, moccasins (I’ll explain later!), cute details like paper straws and candles, an alternative guestbook (haven’t locked that one down yet), and a little tiny cake (yes, that will also be explained).

Our colour scheme isn’t really a colour scheme, in truth. All I know is we’ve decided on yellow as one of the colours, in all of its shades, and the rest seems to be going the way of neutrals, browns, and metallics, and whatever bonus colours are thrown in with the flowers and decor. Doesn’t really matter to me in the grand scheme of things.

I’ll be curious to see if this actually matches up with the real wedding!

Is it weird to make an inspiration board after you’re already inspired?

I had such a hard time creating an inspiration board. Yours looks amazing. I do love when people create a board from pictures of their wedding and compare it with their original inspiration board. It’s always fun to see how similar or different they are. p.s. sunflowers are my fav, and I LOVE that bouquet!

You are not alone… ten months into wedding planning, no inspiration board yet. i think the idea of making one just overwhelmed me at the beginning, and i never got around to it!

@S: Thank you!
@Miss Castle: That’s really one of the main reasons I made it — I love the comparisons, too.
@Miss Archer: I don’t really use mine for anything, honestly. It’s not like I have vendors I need to make understand my vision. So, I don’t think you’re missing out by not having one! :)

Ooh I love this! Especially love the groomsmen in all different shades of grey pants, and the lights wrapped around the tree trunks!

I love your inspiration board! I waited months before making one as I was overwhelmed by the options in the beginning.

Very nice! I didn’t make my inspiration board until a year into planning. It really helped me out, but I’m glad I waited.
