Now, I’m owning that I was a little bossypants bride here—no excuses, just stating a fact. But I knew exactly what I wanted when it came to bridesmaids’ dresses: a pretty shade of yellow, a crisper textile, a classic silhouette, a reasonable price point. For my gaggle of girls, I wanted them to feel pretty and ladylike and fancy but still comfortable, both in the dress and their skin. I also knew that getting my ladies together to try on dresses would be a nightmare—that’s the way the cookie crumbles when your bridesmaids are scattered in five cities. But I have a pretty good eye for this kind of stuff, so I wasn’t too worried. And most importantly, I was newly engaged and SO excited that I wanted to just start looking for something wedding related. And then—I found them. In about 10 minutes flat.
Weddington Way was still in beta testing at the time. I loved that I could limit by price and search by color—so simple! As I perused the search results, I found myself continuously drawn to styles from Dessy’s Alfred Sung line. I adored the classic shapes—not overtly trendy, but stylish and tailored and a little Mad Men–esque. And I loved the sunny shade of yellow offered in dupioni silk—”daisy” is not too bright, so it’s wearable for a variety of complexions. I decided as I browsed that I wanted to do mix-and-match bridesmaids’ dresses, with different styles in the same color and textile. I liked that each girl would get to choose a style that suited her, and I reallllly liked how easy Weddington Way was to navigate. It could not have been simpler.
I checked a little box to save styles to my favorites (choosing about 15 of the available 20 or so, leaving out any that didn’t quite jive with the rest) and input my girls’ email addresses into the system. When they got the welcome email, they were able to sign into the site, view my selections, and rank them in order of their preference…and that’s just what they did! The site wasn’t set up exactly for what I needed—for each girl to choose a different favorite, first-come first-serve. With each girl ranking their top five, we fortunately had only a few overlaps, so I had some conversations and moved a couple things around. I wanted to make sure everyone had a dress they really liked and would look amazing in.
So, with all that said, would you like to see what my lovely ladies will be wearing?

They are going to be so gorgeous—I can’t even wait! I was surprised (and relieved!) at how simple this choice was.
Did anyone else make a quick judgement call on bridesmaids’ dresses? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
