Mrs. Castle's Picture
Mrs. Castle, NYC/Southern California Age and Occupation: 26, Actress/Babysitter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Actor/Writer/Graphic Designer Engagement Date: January 1, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2012 Venue: Padua Hills Theater About Me: I am a Southern California girl living in the Big Apple. I moved here to put my degree in Musical Theater to work! My survival job is caregiver to an adorable 2 1/2 year old. When I'm not working, auditioning or rehearsing, I am hanging out at home with my FI and our two beloved cats. I love to read, sing, dance, hang with friends, and spend quality time with Mr. Castle watching our favorite TV shows (LOST, Big Bang Theory, and Mythbusters...to name a few). Mr Castle and I met while performing in college, so it is only fitting that our wedding take place at an old theater. We are planning a vintage, theater-inspired wedding with some DIY projects and plenty of personal touches thrown in. I love living in the city but I am excited to marry my man in the state where we fell in love.
About Mrs. Castle

Do you recognize those lyrics? It is from one of my favorite songs and the song I’ve decided to walk down the aisle to, “The Rainbow Connection.”

YouTube

Why such a random, non-traditional song you may ask?

Because I love it, and when I told Mr. Castle my idea, I think his eyes welled up with a happy tear or two. It’s one of those songs that to me, is hopeful and magical. When I was a little girl I used to sing it for auditions. It reminds me of my childhood, and all the good things in this world. Now although I love Kermit the Frog’s version, I will not be walking down the aisle to his voice…I’m thinking something more like this…

YouTube

Two of Mr. Castle’s groomsmen are going to be playing it on the guitar. I can’t wait to see Mr. Castle’s face, I hope our guests enjoy our selection as well!

For our other ceremony music we decided to put one of our dear friend’s vocal talents to work. When our Grandmothers and parents enter he will sing this:

YouTube

We are such Disney nerds, right? “Castle on the Water,” is another nostalgic song for Mr. Castle and I. It’s a perfect fit for our family member’s walk down the aisle.

Time for a non-Disney selection, as our bridal party enters he will sing this:

YouTube

For those of you who are not familiar, this song is from the musical The Music Man. A lot of people know it from The Wedding Singer. It’s the song that the little old lady sings at her anniversary party. I have always loved it but I definitely wanted a more up-beat version for our ceremony. The Beatles’ version of the song is the perfect fit!

OK, one more nerdy Disney moment. For our recessional this song will be played.

YouTube

So that’s our ceremony music. I’m excited! What kind of music are you using for your ceremony?

Awesome choice! My hubby and I thought about incorporating Rainbow Connection into our wedding, but didn’t find a good place to use it. We’re both big Muppets fans. :)

Every single song here is amazing. I would totally bawl at your wedding just from the music selection. (I routinely cry at all these songs. Plus I love Pete’s Dragon so much.) I hope you plan to have lots of hankies available! We did the Willie Nelson version of “Rainbow Connection” during our reception. I also really love Paul Williams doing it on Yo Gabba Gabba! And it was the first dance song at one of my friend’s wedding.

I love the rainbow connection! We also used it in our ceremony, but I didn’t walk down the aisle to it. Our guests loved it and were commenting about how it reminded them of their childhood when they heard it. Great choice!

Such great song choices!! We didn’t choose our recessional until the day before the wedding, and now I wish I had thought of that song from Up!! So cute!

We were watching the Muppet Movie the other night and decided to use this as one of our wedding songs too, so I’m so happy to see this on here. Nice choice!

As a fellow Disney nerd…I mean lover, I heartily approve of all of these songs! I mostly in favor of anything that’s special to the bride and groom. Who wants an old stand-by when you can have something more meaningful? :)

Oh boy am I jealous! Rainbow connection was pretty close to being our first dance song, and would for SURE be somewhere in the wedding if we weren’t getting married in a Church that doesn’t allow any non-church music :(

Also, our card box is an Up handprint mailbox and we have an adventure book as our guest book :) That song is making me cry just listening to it haha

Ugh, this whole week I’ve been SO bad about not being able to chose my own music that would be meaningful to me. Darn Catholic wedding….
