Mrs. Fox, Washington DC/Havre de Grace, MD Age and Occupation: 26, Massage Therapist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Field Support Engineer Engagement Date: April 18, 2010 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Vandiver Inn About Me: I’m a dancer turned massage therapist who was born and raised in New York. Alas, true love has brought me “south” where I still maintain my penchants for pretty shoes, wine, crossword puzzles, cherry blossoms, and the Mets. I own more sunglasses than a normal person should and don’t eat red meat (though I make up for it by eating my weight in sushi). I tend to be a big planner who likes to get things started early, but generally end up being indecisive and procrastinating when it comes down to it. I have a (not so) secret crush on Chris Carrabba, but my loyalty and love ultimately goes to the future hubs, of course! Together, my Foxy man and I love to discuss (read: debate) politics and current events, have Mario Kart and Scrabble duels, and just laugh. A lot. We’re hoping and planning for a laid back, fun, summery, rustic vibe to our June wedding that will be genuinely “us” – that is, if we finally make some decisions. Huzzah!

Lush Lemonade

March 27th, 2012 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Fox

It started out with a cute little picture of a drink in a mason jar.

Then I became convinced that we needed to have a signature cocktail (rather than a champagne toast) at the wedding. The next step was to decide what the signature cocktail would actually be.

I debated something simple like a blueberry gimlet, or maybe something more unique like a blackberry basil lemonade. I asked for your opinions, scoured the internet, tested out different cocktails.

Then I noticed this fantastic looking pink concoction posted by our very own Miss Mink a while ago.

Apparently this is one of the drinks served at her venue, Pippin Hill, called “Pucker Up Punch.” I figured, since it looks amazing, it has to taste amazing too, right?!

I gathered the necessary supplies:

Absolut Ruby Red, X Rated Fusion Liquor, lemonade (Crystal Light, yo!)

Now, I tend to have a heavy hand when it comes to mixing drinks, but it totally works with this tasty beverage—one shot Ruby Red, one shot of the liquor, then fill and mix with lemonade.

Of course I had to put it into a mason jar with a stripy straw to get the full effect. And guys? It was good. It doesn’t taste like there’s alcohol in it, which is both awesome and dangerous. I was afraid Foxy wouldn’t like it—it has an incredibly soft hint of grapefruit (he hates grapefruit)—but he went bananas over it. Like…has had multiple glasses this week. We had our friends try it out as well and there were thumbs up all around!

My only changes would be to make it with pink lemonade instead of regular, as it makes the color much more pink and much, much prettier; I also want to add some fresh raspberries or strawberries to spruce it up a bit.

We’re still trying to come up with a good name, but for right now we’re sticking with “Lush Lemonade.” ’Cause that’s exactly what it is. Lush. And orgasmic, but I don’t think “Orgasmic Lemonade” would go over too well. Or maybe it would. ;)

The last step is to make sure our venue, the Vandiver Inn, can acquire all the proper ingredients (mainly the Rated X Fusion Liquor). Here’s hoping!

Did you come up with your own signature cocktail (if you had one) or did you pull inspiration from elsewhere? What did you name it?

We’re in the process of looking for one now… our main wedding color is blue, so if anyone knows of any super tasty blue cocktails please let me know!

Yummm. That sounds delish! We’re not having signature cocktails, but I kinda just want to make a few of these for myself! ;)

We’re still trying to come up with one! Our vendor is being kind of a pain b/c we’re only allowed to use the liquor on our open bar list- which makes it hard to make these super yummy drinks!

@Miss Turkey & @mkim: It’s SO good. You can even just pour it over ice and sip. Fruity, but sweet. Mmmm.
@StephMay1609: Hah! Go for it!! Perfect for the upcoming summer. ;)
@Mrs. Pony: Well *of course* you need to use those extra stripy straws!
@alicia1745: Hmmm, that’s toughy. I would recommend something like a spruced up gimlet, since that’s really just vodka and lime juice.. you could maybe add some club soda or sprite for some flavor/fizz..?!
