When it came to jewelry to wear on my wedding day, I really wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go. The problem was not that I couldn’t find anything I liked, the problem was that I liked everything (this is a common problem I have when online shopping—good for my happiness, not so good for my wallet).
Like any true Vandy girl, I love the classic timeless look of pearls. But I also wanted something sparkly to compliment my non-sparkly dress. I may have avoided all things bling in my gown search, but a girl needs a little something shiny on her wedding day!
The “jewelry/accessories” section of the wedding folder in my bookmarks menu (say that 3 times fast) was taking on a life of its own. But then, when Mama Dalmatian came to visit a few weeks ago, she brought something with her that put all of my online finds to shame. With a twist on classic pearls, a touch of Swarovski sparkle and a vintage feel that I adored, I knew my search was over.

Just to be sure, we did a quick fashion show with a selection of necklaces my mom had either bought (and left tags on so we could return if necessary) or had in her jewelry collection. We tried plain sparkly, plain pearls, a y-shape, a round shape… okay, okay, I admit it, I come from a family of over-analyzers and I am no exception. But luckily, after all of the analyzing, my choice was easy because nothing compared to the first one!
Then came the task of finding matching earrings. The necklace choice may have been easy, but the earring search was just the opposite!
After going to every mall, jewelry store, and antique store in the greater Nashville area, I was starting to lose hope. In the last mall we tried, I reluctantly agreed to go into a department store that I hate (my opinion has been tainted by the one my local mall that is chronically under construction). Sure enough, we found earrings that were right size, right color, right shape, right shininess, and since they were on sale they were also the right price!

I had really had my heart set on finding vintage earrings, which these were not, but when I looked them up online I found out that they were from Swarovski’s vintage collection…close enough for me!
The last piece of jewelry I needed (other than a wedding ring, of course, but we’ll get to that later) was a bracelet. For this, I did find an antique piece. With such a statement necklace, I wanted something small and delicate, and this tiny bracelet I spotted at my favorite antique mall did the trick.
