Mrs. Castle's Picture
Mrs. Castle, NYC/Southern California Age and Occupation: 26, Actress/Babysitter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Actor/Writer/Graphic Designer Engagement Date: January 1, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2012 Venue: Padua Hills Theater About Me: I am a Southern California girl living in the Big Apple. I moved here to put my degree in Musical Theater to work! My survival job is caregiver to an adorable 2 1/2 year old. When I'm not working, auditioning or rehearsing, I am hanging out at home with my FI and our two beloved cats. I love to read, sing, dance, hang with friends, and spend quality time with Mr. Castle watching our favorite TV shows (LOST, Big Bang Theory, and Mythbusters...to name a few). Mr Castle and I met while performing in college, so it is only fitting that our wedding take place at an old theater. We are planning a vintage, theater-inspired wedding with some DIY projects and plenty of personal touches thrown in. I love living in the city but I am excited to marry my man in the state where we fell in love.

I Heart My Veil

April 9th, 2012 @ 3:50 pm by Mrs. Castle

I’ve always known I wanted to wear a veil with my wedding dress. I mean, when else in your life can you wear a veil? In my mind it completes the bridal look. There’s a reason that when you’re trying on wedding dresses they bring out the veil to seal the deal. They’re hoping you’re like me and start tearing up. It really did help me feel more like a bride seeing the whole picture.

Once I found my dress it was time to start thinking about my veil. What did I want? What length, trim, style?

I decided right off the bat that I didn’t want a long veil. No cathedral length for me. Don’t get my wrong—I love them, and seeing Mrs. Snow Cone’s recaps I know that a cathedral-length veil would look amazing with my dress. (We’re dress twins. :) ) But a cathedral-length veil seems too formal for our outdoor wedding. Of course I broke my mother’s heart with this decision. If it were up to her I would be wearing a Princess Diana veil with three or four little girls holding it behind me…

But that was not my dream. I pictured a simple veil, fingertip length at the most, with maybe a nice satin trim. With that in mind I began my search on Etsy. I found so many options, but one particular shop caught my eye.

This shop had just what I was looking for: simple but unique. There were so many great options! I ended up going with this one!

A month later it arrived at my apartment. I am so happy with it, and I can’t wait to try it on with my dress at my final fitting next week!

I heart my veil. I got really emotional when I tried it on. I don’t know what it is about veils, but it really brings out the “bride” feeling in me!

What about you? Are you wearing a veil? Does is make you feel more like a bride?

I am wearing the cathedral length veil with my chapel length white and peach wedding dress! I agree with you. There is no other time you can wear a veil.

I have a million veils by that seller currently “favorite-ed!” What was your experience like with the seller? She has so many beautiful veils!

@love108: Her name is Kathy and she is awesome! Answered all my questions about shipping and production time very promptly. She was just so sweet and seems to really love what she does. I feel like if I knew her in real life we would be friends. I recieved my veil from her a little less than a month after I ordered it, and she had said production time would be a month.

I love the look of veils but hate having anything around my face. Whomp whomp.

I love it!
So funny- I had decided when I tried on dresses and found mine that I didn’t think I wanted a veil- I thought I just wasn’t a veil person- and then when I went to try my dress on for the first time when it arrived, after the first veil I felt the same- no veil for me- then two veils later I fell in love :) I am officially a veil girl too :) I know that when they finish my hair at the salon and put that veil in my hair, I will be in tears because I will feel like a bride as soon as it touches my head that day :)

Holy crap Castle!! Thats my veil too!!! LOOPTY LUE ALL THE WAY!!
She made me one, which I had requested very little gathering, i received it and realized i should have been more clear about exactly how i wanted to to be [which was totally flat on top with really no gathers, more like a mantilla].
She MADE me a NEW one for just the cost of shipping and one other small fee and the 2nd one was perfect!!!! Cannot rave about Veiled Beauty enough. LOVE IT!!!

Your veil is simple and elegant. Lovely.

Although, I like the look of veils, but don’t want one for my wedding. My reasons are mostly because I don’t like bangs (never Have) I can’t stant to have hair in my face or around my neck and I get easily irrated with my hair. So I don’t think a veil would last long on me. I never tried one on in the store either. But it’s very interesting to know that you got emotional when you tried your on. Maybe I’ll atleast try one on just to see.

Thanks

Gorgeous!! I love, love, love your veil! I think I was more emotional when my veil came in than when I purchased my wedding dress!
