In case you could not guess, I am a fan of wedding blogs. Shocking, I know! Obviously my number one favorite (by a landslide) is Weddingbee, but there is also another blog I like to stalk on a regular basis. Okay, I’ll be honest, there are a lot of other blogs I stalk on a regular basis, but only one that is relevant to this particular post, and that one would be the Cedarwood Weddings Blog. It is our venue’s blog and they post pics of real weddings and inspiration shoots quite frequently (hence why I stalk it quite frequently). The nice thing about this blog is that when I see something I like I don’t have to think,”Okay, now I have to come up with a way to buy/make that,” I just think, “Okay, now I have to tell them that I want them to use that at our wedding too!”
And that is exactly what happened when I saw this photo:

This photo totally made my ears perk up! Oh wait, I’m not a dog.
Well it totally made my heart race! One, like Mama Dalmatian, I simply love everything and anything that has to do with a tree stump. Two, add mason jars and beautiful flowers to the mix and I love the tree stump even more. Three, it is a perfect place to throw in some more vintage doilies (under the flowers). And four, it allows me to cross “aisle decor” off of my to-do list!
After our initial planning meeting, we were planning to create some sort of fabric flag/pennant stick things to go down the aisle. We toyed with doing this a few different ways but I wasn’t completely loving any of them. And watching my receipts pile up from many other DIY projects, I realized that there was a very decent chance that creating our own decor would not actually save us money. So when I spotted this idea and I couldn’t jump on it fast enough.
After a quick email to our planners at Cedarwood, and a slight edit to Wedding Master Plan document, our aisle decor was set. We are only going to have four of these stumps, one at the beginning and end of each side of the aisle. I think this will be enough to express the right feel without getting too woodsy, or too expensive for that matter. Also, our alter is going to be an archway covered in flowers as opposed to the piece of furniture at the front of this aisle (which I do think is also very cool, just not for us). But here is an idea of what I will see walking down the aisle – squeal!
