Showering the Hostesses

May 17th, 2012 @ 2:48 pm by Mrs. Scepter

Guess what came in the mail yesterday?

Showering the Hostesses : wedding amarillo bridal shower bridesmaid gift Photo Copy Withblanks photo-copy-withblanks

Personal photo (Sorry about the all the Wite-Out; a girl has got to keep some secrets.)

My shower invitation! My mom has had a group of five close girlfriends for over 20 years, and they were nice enough to not only volunteer, but insist, on throwing my bridal shower. The invitation is gorgeous (I wish the photo showed off the shimmer in the purple design), and I can’t wait to see what they have planned!

I know they have all spent hours and hours planning a party for me, so now I need to figure out what to get them to show my gratitude. I have been searching high and low for good hostess gifts, but I am drawing a blank. One of my coworkers suggested a gift card to a restaurant or spa, but gift cards seem too impersonal to give to people I have known my entire life. So far the best idea I have come up with are these cute bowls from Macy’s:

They come in different colors so I could get a different color for each hostess, but I haven’t been able to commit to these. I am so grateful to my hostesses for putting so much energy and love into my shower, and I want their gifts to be amazing.

What are you getting for your hostess gifts?

The bowls are lovely! You’re going to have such a nice shower surrounded by all those you love! Hmmm… I haven’t thought about hostess gifts yet… I definitely need to start thinking though…

“Bride-elect!” That’s so cute : ) I don’t know, I bet they’d love a spa gift card. Plus, make sure you get nice pictures of you with them and send them one.

Hostess gifts are so hard! I think the bowls are a great idea. I think I gave my hostesses chocolate and wine, because they are things I like :)

I went with the “shower” theme and got my hostesses gift bags full of shower items from Target! Bath gel, loofahs, lotion…And of course hand written thank you cards.

My shower is Saturday! Ahh!

I was lame and got them bottles of wine. I realized like two days before the shower I had to get them something.

I had two showers. For the first one I gave the two hostesses umbrellas from Vera Bradley. (They’re sale stuff is really only online and they have really good deals!) For my second one, I gave my two hostesses candles from Anthropologie. They sell this AMAZING smelling candle and the scent is called Volcano. It comes in a cobalt blue holder or mercury glass. They sell it at Francescas too! You should buy one even if its just for you :)

Hostess gifts are so hard! I bought them some jewelry that I knew they’d like and afterwards a photo of us from the shower. :)

Thank GOD for this post. I’m sure I would’ve reached this conclusion myself at some point but I was not even thinking of hostess gifts!

Sidenote: Do you have pictures with these ladies? Or even, does your mom? You could take some of the pictures and find a really nice frame, and write a sentimental thank you note. It will emphasize their importance – and longevity – in both yours and your mom’s lives as well as how appreciative you are.
