Mrs. Boa Constrictor, Isabela, Puerto Rico Age and Occupation: 22, Undergraduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Soon-to-be Civil Engineer Engagement Date: May 19, 2011 Wedding Date: May 2012 Venue: El Faro Convention Center About Me: I’m a Caribbean gal, born and bred on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, finishing her last year as an undergrad. I describe myself as a “closet nerd” as I secretly enjoy reading research papers, playing video games, and geeking out on Lord of the Rings movie marathons. I will marry my college sweetheart, a soon-to-be civil engineer, who loves Legos and old-school Puerto Rican cooking. This is sure to be a fast-paced year with our wedding, honeymoon, college graduation, new jobs, and a cross-country move all within less than 30 days of each other!
About Mrs. Boa Constrictor

A long time ago, I asked Mami Boa if I could use her wedding glasses if they were still around. She answered in the affirmative, super excited that we will be including a memento for her wedding into our big day. I finally saw the glasses this weekend and I’m totally in love.

A Memento From My Parents' Wedding : wedding family isabela puerto rico reception Boa31

Straight out of the box where they have been stored for almost 25 years

With a little TLC, some cleaning and a little shine on the silver part, they will look as good as new. We had a little scare with one of them when the cup came apart form the stem, but it wasn’t anything a little glue couldn’t handle.

I’m so glad my parents kept these after all these years. It gives us the opportunity to honor their marriage and incorporate it into our wedding in a deeply personal way. As soon as I saw them, my eyes got all misty eyed thinking that in a few days we will be toasting to our marriage with the same glasses my parents did, years ago. I find something about that incredibly romantic, and hopefully a little of their great marriage juju will rub off on us.

Will you be incorporating a memento of your parents’ wedding into your own?

Those are so beautiful! And so very special that you are using them. I used the ring pillow from my parents wedding. My Mom bought it at a thrift store when she was getting married and she loved it so much she kept it all these years. I was so happy to use it!

My FI and I are considering having our ceremony at the church where my parents were married and reception at the hotel where his parents got married. I checked out the hotel’s ballrooms yesterday and they are sooooo gorgeous! I almost don’t want to consider other rooms!

It wont be a physical momento but we’re getting married on the same date as my parents. We wanted a June wedding but our hall worked with us if we went into May, when the owned suggested May 17th we knew it was meant to be. Probably going to play their song as well

I also used my parents toasting glasses at my 1st wedding. Unfortunately their luck didn’t rub off. (They have been married for 27 yrs, mine only lasted 3 1/2 yrs.)

My mother has this hanky she used to hold her arras (spanish coins) from her wedding. My parents got married 49 years ago in Madrid and I’m also doing an arras exchange for my wedding. My mom is updating the hanky with a little more embroidery and our initials. I think it’s cool to be incorporating a little of my family’s tradition and history. The hanky has super intricate lace, which she made by hand- its really beautiful!

I love champagne coupes!! I have a pair of silver ones from my parents’ wedding, but they are engraved with an “N” on each one (for their once-shared last name), but since I’ll be going from an “N” to an “R”, I’m not sure it makes much sense for us to use them. :( So wonderful that you can reuse a little piece of history from your parents!

I’d never thought of this!! It would be so cuteeee!! :)

My parents didn’t have their official wedding ceremony until 10 years ago (in the same month of september)so I’m sure I can find tons of stuff!

My parents saved a bottle of champagne from their wedding to be served at their eldest child’s wedding (aka mine!), but a) it’s not very nice champagne, and b) it hasn’t been stored properly for the past 26 years, so I think we’ll just display the bottle.

those glasses are beautiful! What a great way to celebrate your marriage… by drinking from the same glasses your parents used when they wed!!! How romantic!!!
