This past weekend I traveled to the salon to finally have my hair and makeup trial! I’ve been excited about this since the early days of my Weddingbee blogging. My “Hair Ideas” Pinterest board has 48 pins on it. I think it’s safe to say that I care infinitely more about my wedding hairdo than my dress. Before I show you pics of the trial, a slightly inaccurate warning:
No, there are no actual dress pics ahead, but if you’d like some, go here. I’m glad I got one last use out of this amazing graphic, though.
I started out the day au naturel: my hair was still slightly damp from the shower, and my face was scrubbed clean. I looked amazing already:
HOT.
When I walked in, I’m pretty sure they thought they had their work cut out for them. I’m also pretty sure they thought I was going to prom. I showed my stylist the inspiration pics I’d printed out, and she got right to work curling, pinning, spraying, and back-combing.
At first I thought this was my updo, and I was like “a’ight, I can work it.” Then I realized she was just setting it in pin curls.
Then she unpinned all the curls and revealed my hair in all its voluminous glory.
I could just wear my hair like this every day. I feel like a country singer!
But I insisted on having an updo for my wedding, so those curls went back up.
I really liked the hairstyle in person the day I got it done, but I’m less crazy about it now. First of all, I need to get my bangs trimmed, stat. Why are they making a 45 degree diagonal line across my forehead? We also decided that the entire updo would be moved several inches up on the wedding day. My crown originally had a lot more volume, but the weight of my curls brought it down. The curls are also pinned lower than I’d like, so those will be brought up too.
Next, it was time for makeup! This was the only makeup inspiration pic I showed her, and she nailed it:

This is me with a clean face still.
This is me looking like a scary bitch.
That’s better.
Here I look like a bitch again, but not a scary one.
After I got home, I had a photo shoot.
With my wedding earrings and necklace!
I really do have chronic bitchface.
My brother said I looked like Barbie. I’m guessing he meant original Barbie.
It looks kind of bad from the back, but in real life the pins weren’t as obvious.
Now I’m posing like a jackass. Can you tell I liked it?
I had to try it with the veil…
…and with the veil back.
What do you think, hive? Did you enjoy your hair and makeup trial? What are some tips for getting my hair to resist gravity on the wedding day?
