Oh How Suite

May 31st, 2012 @ 11:57 am by Miss Fairy

The suite I’ve reserved for my wedding day, that is. Once Fiance proposed my mind immediately started swarming with ideas and the ever growing to-do list. The first was to pick a reception spot (one week later…check!). The second was supposed to be “find a church” or “research photographer.” However, that list quickly changed once we made the decision to have our wedding out of town. My mission then switched to booking our hotel suite so I would have a place to get ready in.

Luckily for me, I knew exactly what hotel I wanted to use for our wedding block. The Woodcliff Hotel and Spa is close to our reception venue, is set on top of a hill (which offers beautiful views), and offers complimentary shuttle service to our guests to and from our reception. Fiance and I have stayed there twice to celebrate birthdays. It was no surprise that, once we booked our reception venue, I was immediately looking at the hotel’s website.

Since I won’t be getting ready at the home I live in or the home I grew up in, I knew I wanted to get ready for the most important day of my life (thus far) in a beautiful setting that had enough room for me to feel relaxed. The Woodcliff was the perfect place to look, as they offered a few different suites to choose from. However, after quickly perusing their website, there was only one suite I envisioned getting ready in on my wedding day. The Art Deco.

What’s so special about this suite?

  • Over 1,110 square feet to get ready in (and with eight bridesmaids, one junior, MOTB, MOTG, and a makeup artist or two…that space is absolutely necessary since I’m afraid I may be overwhelmed by so many people the morning of)
  • Two floors (in case I need to escape the madness!)
  • Two bathrooms (another huge plus)
  • Adorable spiral staircase (looks great in photos)
  • First floor living room, dining area, and wet bar (again, more space to spread out and relax)

It’s very popular among brides—and I booked the suite 15 months before the wedding. Crazy? Maybe. But I knew I wanted to get ready there, so there was no point in procrastinating.

The suite is a little pricey—I originally only booked it for the night before the wedding (maybe have a little girls’ night beforehand and relax the morning of the wedding). Fiance and I knew we would be getting back from wedding festivities late and didn’t need a fancy hotel room for our wedding night, so we decided to book a standard hotel room instead.

That lasted for about one month. After discussing the suite some more, Fiance said he really wanted to stay there, too. (We’re not staying together the night before the wedding.) So we will be going back to the suite the night of our wedding and relaxing in that extremely large space the next morning, ordering breakfast for two, and not leaving until they kick us out. :)

Was anyone else overly excited about their wedding-night accommodations?

Hot damn, that looks amazing!! Maybe pricey, but when else in your life can you justify spending a pretty penny on accommodations, right? :)

We looked at Woodcliff too! It’s less than two miles from my church, so it was on our list of possible reception venues for a long time. It’s gorgeous (and the suites are wonderful, you’ll love it)!

This looks amazing! You’ll be so happy that you decided to keep the suite for the night of the wedding, you’ll be so busy the day of the, you won’t want to move everything to another room :)

I’m doing the same. AND I’ve booked it too. In fact we’re actually getting married in there and having our reception there. (Its nothing as amazing as yours though, I have to say)
I’m doing a girls night in deal where they let us have a suite, use the spa and bring us champagne and bacon sandwices for breakfast :) the girls and I will stay in there that night and have our stylists and makeup artists there that morning, and my suitcase will be taken up to the HONEYMOON SUITE with a very very nice four poser bed for the wedding night while we get on with the wedding in the other wing of the hotel :) I say life’s too short to think twice when you know you really want something :) plus! I’ve saved a few pennies not needing a wedding car, so why not treeat myself?xx

Lol, I am in the process of researching something similar for my own Wedding.

Having a wonderful suite to be pampered in and relax in is a must do for me as well.

Not to mention, that I am a bit of an old-fashioned girl at heart, so have decided I don’t want to be staying with my Hubby-2-B the night before our Wedding either.

Mostlly because of the fact that I’ve been a Bride before, and I know how nice it is to get ready without them around (hadn’t thought about the Photographer aspect… will have to take that into consideration).

And, also because one of the greatest memories from my first Wedding was the look of AWE on my Groom’s face when I walked down the aisle, and the so sweet whispered “You look gorgeous” when I joined him at the front of the church.

I sooo want that wonderful feeling again “this time round”

And like yourself because of logistics on the Wedding Day (who wants to be shuffling suitcases etc on such a busy day already)… we to have decided to just stay put in the Suite and enjoy it for the first night of our Honeymoon.

Lol, like you and your Hubby, we’ll be luxuriating in the comfort… and in our case enjoying the views of the Atlantic Ocean. I cannot wait.

That looks glorious! I have no idea what we’re in for on our wedding night… my mom told me to not book something because she has it under control, so it’s going to be a complete surprise…

Wow, I would love to be in your bridal party. I don’t think any hotel rooms in my city are that size.
